Passive and Active Cooling
With so many ports and throughput of data and power, Ivanky implemented both passive and active cooling to ensure the FusionDock Ultra runs smoothly. Passive cooling involves the construction of the dock, with heat-dissipation layers to draw heat away, and a floating midframe to keep air moving. When needed, intelligent active cooling utilizes dual fans to intake cool outside air, pull it across the internal components, and exhaust the hot air out the other end. Adaptive Fan control keeps noise to a minimum, only hitting 44-46 dBA under light to moderate loads to blend in with ambient noise when sitting at a desk.

I'm about two weeks into using this dock as the hub of my video editing workstation, and everything is working as expected so far. I'm using the 10GB Ethernet to attach to my NAS, and have had good performance editing with proxies straight from the NAS. I'm also running three 4K monitors plus a few external hard drives. The dual Thunderbolt system connection seems like a really smart design to avoid bottlenecks, and so far I haven't experienced any.
