ASUS X299-A II Overview

The PRIME X299-A II LGA 2066 ATX Motherboard from ASUS optimizes CPU performance with AI overclocking and supports multi-GPU technology. With support for Intel Core X-Series processors with the LGA 2066 socket, this ATX motherboard delivers smooth performance for demanding applications and AI workflows.

Install an M.2 NVMe SSD alongside three PCIe 3.0 drives, providing you with plenty of space to store your games library, applications, and multimedia files. Eight SATA III connectors are also available. There are eight DDR4 DIMM slots support up to 256GB of memory. With NVIDIA SLI and AMD CrossFireX support, you can install multiple GPUs using the three PCIe 3.0 slots.

The rear panel features a USB-C and a USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 port, four USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, and two USB-A 2.0 ports. Connect to a wired network with the RJ45 GbE port or install a separate Wi-Fi or Bluetooth card using the M.2 E key sockets. This motherboard is compatible with Windows 10 (64-bit).

Robust Power Design
The LGA 2066 socket is compatible with Intel Core X-Series processors with up to 18 cores, over 44 PCIe lanes, and 165 W thermal design power (TDP). Ensure a reliable and secure connection to your EPS 12V power lines withe ProCool II connectors with upgraded metal armor and solid pins for heat dissipation. The 12 IR3555 PowIRstages are each rated to 60 amps and the alloy-core choke can handle up to 45 amps.
Cooling
The two M.2 slots are covered by a heatsink to combat throttling. The reinforced backplate improves stability and includes thermal pads to efficiently direct heat away from the VRM and other components.
AI Overclocking
The ASUS AI Overclocking feature can automatically tune the CPU and cooling capabilities to adjust temperature, fan speed, and power draw. Access through Windows or through the UEFI BIOS.
Audio
The Realtek S1220A features 120dB signal-to-noise ratio for pristine audio quality. DTS:X Ultra supports sound based on channels, scenes, and objects to allow for deeper sonic immersion.

Excellent motherboard with many options. No issues with adding RAM, SATA drives, NVME, or other accessories. Great bios update tools. Solid performer for me for years.

Feature packed, but it created issues for me in Y2

This board died on me on some electrical problem. It was a shame since this board has a lot of good features. I tried a new case since the case USB may have been how the board got corrupted but I did not get sufficient help from the manufacturer to fix it.
