BenQ PD2730S Reviews
Fantastic quality KVM monitor for coding and productivity
I use both a Mac Mini M4 Pro and a Framework 13 laptop at the same desk, through the same monitor. I previously had a combination of monitor, DisplayPort KVM, and Thunderbolt dock for the laptop that mostly worked, but would occasionally glitch out until I power-cycled several components. This monitor replaces all three with better reliability. I especially like that the Thunderbolt out port on the monitor stays connected to the Thunderbolt in port, regardless of KVM selection: This makes it suitable for a laptop Ethernet adapter that keeps working when temporarily switching away from the laptop on the KVM.
Four and a Half Stars
Given the limited choices in a solid 5K editing monitor, and the need to daisy chain them, this was probably the best solution. Pros: Color is great right out of the box. Both are nearly identical and feel very color responsive. Thunderbolt daisy chain works which was very important to me as my thunderbolt ports are extremely precious. Matte screen is nice to work on. Tool free setup. Cons, trying to be too many things too too many users makes port choice not very obvious. The external pucks are wasted on most users and could have been optional accessories. No cable management on the stand. You have to dig into the menu to get them to wake when the computer does. Unboxing and setup are not bad but obviously packaging design was not important.
