A clear step up from the Epson SC P800 in usability

I bought this printer to replace my 10 year old, 17" Epson SC-P800. It is a clear step up in build quality and ease of use. The latter is especially true when feeding paper manually as I do most of the time with Hahnemuhle Fine Art papers. I use HFA Photo Rag Pearl and Photo Rag Matt Baryta. The old Epson was a paper monster. The front VERY-manual feeder chewed up expensive paper with impunity. The Canon manual feeder requires hands-on attention, but once the paper is placed in the manual feed slot, I have not had a misfeed or a ruined piece of paper in about 50 prints to date. At the current cost of fine art paper, this is a huge advantage. The one negative is that I cannot use Epson Legacy Fibre, paper, which was my personal favorite until I bought the Canon printer. I would have had to make or buy a custom ICC profile for the Canon. I tried some of the work-arounds found on the web, but none worked around well enough in my hands to be useful. So, I have had to part with a fairly large stock of Legacy Fibre, which was sad and costly. That said, the Canon delivers beautiful results with the HFA papers using ICC profiles and media settings provided by Hahnemuhle. The HFA Photo Rag Matt Baryta provides prints almost identical in quality to those I was making with Legacy Fibre on the Epson. Overall, I am very pleased with the Canon 310 compared to the Epson. It is solid piece of machinery that delivers great prints. I may miss the 17" width of the P800 at some point, but I was not printing 17x22 very much anymore. If I were, I would buy the 17" version of the Canon.

Can the 310 print 5 x 5 greeting cards (unfolded size 5 x 10)?

Yes, the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-310 Professional 13" Wireless Inkjet Photo Printer with 10 PFI-5100 Ink Tanks Kit can print on cards up to 23.6 mil thick. The minimum size the printer can handle is 4 x 6 inches, so it will easily handle a 5 x 10.

How does this printer print up to 70 inches long when it has no roll feeder? Do you just lay out a 5.8 foot long sheet behind?

When using papers longer than 19 inches in the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-310 Professional 13" Wireless Inkjet Photo Printer, depending on the weight of the paper, the leading edge may lift up, causing printing to be misaligned. Hold the paper by hand by the part protruding from the tray to prevent the leading edge of the paper from lifting up.
