Panasonic DMW-DMS1 Reviews
SPECTACULAR mic!
Using on my S1R-II. This mic is extremely clean. It's two front focus modes work shockingly well. It can deliver very tight and narrow pattern directly in front of you and you have the ability to widen it if you want. The ultra wide stereo pattern is another that works incredibly well with left/right separation being just soooo sweet. You can dial in a VERY wide stereo field at it's widest mode. I was recording rain in my backyard yesterday and listening with headphones was stunning. The pre-amps on this mic are very, VERY clean too. My only complaint = As of March 31 2026, several software packages that normally accept 32bit float audio with no trouble cannot read these audio files. Vegas Pro and Handbrake and a couple of others will NOT play these files. Seems to be mis-placed metadata inside the files??? I suspect this is a temporary file packaging bug that will be fixed quickly by Lumix or other software companies. I don't know where the problem lies. Adobe Premiere works fine with it. Anyway, I took one star off for that problem alone. Otherwise, this mic is absolutely EXCELLENT in every way. I will buy another when they get it working on my GH7.
