The matte ivory HD-599 Open-Back Around-Ear Headphones from Sennheiser are a successor to the popular HD 500 series and are powered by Sennheiser's proprietary transducer technology and Ergonomic Acoustic Refinement (EAR) design, which channels the audio signal directly into your ears. They can be used to deliver high-end audio performance and offer exceptional wearing comfort, thanks to the large earcups, broad-padded headband, and soft replaceable earpads.

With a frequency response of 12 to 38.5 kHz, these headphones offer uncompromising sound. There is no pressure on your ears, only sound. Sennheiser HD 500 BAM Add-On Boom Arm Microphone

The Sennheiser HD 500 BAM Headset Add-On Boom Arm Microphone allows communication without lag during long calls or gaming sessions, ergonomically assisting the user. Designed for use with HD series headphones, the HD 500 BAM works directly with most devices that have a 3.5mm TRS port and supply plug-in power, allowing it to deliver the audio standard listeners expect from Sennheiser to computers, gaming consoles, and mobile devices.

A 10mm condenser capsule ensures clear voice transmission; its cardioid polar pattern minimizes room noise, and the replaceable foam pop screen reduces breath sounds. The included Y-adapter enables the HD 500 BAM to be used with computers that have separate 3.5mm mic and headphone ports. User control is maximized with in-line mute and volume controls.

Just as I Expected

A friend of mine had a cheaper model of these that I originally did not like. The sound was too dark. Now, coming from Philips Fidelio X2HR headphones, these surely are warmer sounding than the Fidelios, but the sound is more rounded and the mids sound more dynamic. The bass is about on par between the two. The highs aren't as piercing as the Fidelios, though, they still sounded very good! These headphones feel very good on the head and don't clamp too hard. I forgot up until I got these that Sennheiser has their own proprietary headphone connector. So that bummed me out, but it doesn't bother me much. The cable was a bit stiff and annoying at first but it relaxed with time. One more detail about the sound. I really do feel like these headphones need a break-in period. It took maybe a few weeks or so for the sound to really pop with these. So if they sound a little dull at first, don't worry, they should liven up

These headphones are very clear and have a vocals forward sound. The high end can be a little sharp at times, and the bass is crisp but subtle. The fit is nice and the space for your ears is well designed.
