The MuteMate-85L from Kopul is a mute/talk button that's compatible with both condenser and dynamic microphones. Inserting the switch between your microphone and your computer or mixer allows you to activate or mute your microphone as desired. Once pressed, this latching switch keeps your mic muted until it's pressed again, unlike having to hold down a momentary mute button.
The MuteMate-85L features 3-pin XLR connectors for mic input and signal output to a recorder, sound system, or audio workstation. The mute setting attenuates mic output by 85 dB, so under normal gain conditions, broadcast audiences, recording talent, and online conferences won't hear coughs or side conversations. Pressing the switch again activates the microphone for talkback in studio applications, meetings, presentations, and video chats. An indicator LED illuminates when phantom power is present.
Note: When changing from a condenser microphone to a dynamic microphone, push the switch on and off 10-15 times to dissipate any residual phantom power in order to prevent popping sounds.
