Samsung VG-SCFH65BWBZA Reviews
Fine, but overpriced
I can confirm this fits the 2024 65” Frame TV as well, which is nice because it’s hard to find the bezel listed for the 2024s now. It does exactly what it says: fits around the existing bezel neatly, giving the impression of a wooden frame. It is made of plastic with an artificial texture, which appears to be achieved with many tiny grooves in the direction of the “grain”. However, these grooves do not line up with the color or size of the grain. The net effect is better than if it were simply painted flat, but still: it reflects angled light more like plastic than wood. Functionally, it appears to have a slight impact on the light sensor - you may need to tweak your art mode brightness settings after installing. If you have the option enabled to sleep the display in the dark, the display will sleep more readily than without this bezel. Now, the cost: is the MSRP too much for a plastic bezel? Yes, I think so. Unfortunately, it’s the only option I was able to find on the market at this price point. There are nicer, wooden bezels available on various “handcrafted goods” websites - and they typically start at twice this price. So, is it a good value? In a vacuum, no! In the context of the other options out there? Yes! I would love to see Samsung drop the price at least a little now that some of The Frame’s competitors are including a bezel option at the time of shipping. The model offered by the “rain forest” competitor in particular offers many more options, and you get to pick one free with every TV! But ultimately, art TVs are a compromise in the name of aesthetics, and I think Samsung knows that most Frame TV buyers will settle for less than the best deal. And if you are a potential Frame TV buyer reading this review: no, I do not recommend the TV itself. Even ignoring Smart TV features, the software is awful. It no longer transitions to art mode when powered off by an HDMI device, and there are constant problems with audio over HDMI. Would not buy it again.
