Go from high treble to deep bass with the Electro-Harmonix Bass Big Muff Pi 2, a fuzz pedal sporting a unique dual op-amp fuzz circuit resurrected from the '70s. Sporting typical Volume, Tone, and Sustain fuzz controls, as well as bass-oriented features like a switchable bass boost and a wet/dry mix for parallel processing, this pedal offers unique fuzz flavors for bass instruments.
With Sustain, you can control the amount of sustain and distortion of your fuzz tone. Tone increases treble and decreases bass frequencies the further you turn it clockwise. The bass boost switch is most effect with high Tone knob settings. A status LED now compliments the upgraded momentary/latching footswitch. This pedal further improves on its predecessor with true bypass, allowing for silent bypass switching while preserving the high frequencies of your tone when bypass is engaged. The nano die-cast enclosure is rugged yet compact. This pedal can be powered by either a 9V battery or a 9 VDC power adapter (power adapter sold separately). The Big Muff Pi 2 includes a 9V battery.
The Big Muff Pi 2 dual op-amp design is one that didn’t make the cut back in the late '70’s and was promptly stashed away in Bob’s files. While interviewing Bob in his old workshop, EHX disciples Josh Scott (of JHS Pedals) and Daniel Danger uncovered this novel circuit design as a hand-drawn schematic among Bob’s old notes. Josh went to work decoding the original schematic and resurrected the circuit as the Big Muff Pi 2.
A crispy top end, booming lows, and slightly less refined clipping, gives the Big Muff Pi 2 a particularly cool feel that’s both unique and distinctly Big Muff. The Bass Big Muff Pi 2 employs true bypass with a mechanical relay. The footswitch includes a momentary action when you press and hold the footswitch for more than half a second. The momentary footswitch action may also be disabled.
