Apple XDR Standard Overview

Enhance your video editing, photography, and design workflows with the 27" Apple Studio Display XDR. Featuring a sharp 5120 x 2880 resolution 5K Retina screen with thin bezels and 27" active viewing area, this professional-grade reference monitor is designed to elevate your computing experience while helping to keep you focused.
Take a Close Look
The Studio Display XDR includes a refined all-aluminum chassis that houses a 5K Retina screen that provides 218 ppi (pixels per inch) for sharp details. A mini-LED backlight with 2304 dimming zones delivers stunning color with reduced halo blooming, supporting up to 2000 nits peak HDR brightness and a 1 million:1 contrast ratio. Support for wide P3 and Adobe RGB color provides photographers and designers with accuracy, especially with printed projects.

True tone technology uses a built-in ambient light sensor to automatically adjust the color temperature to match your environment for accurate colors and a more natural viewing experience. A 120 Hz refresh rate with Adaptive Sync support delivers fluid visuals with fast moving graphics, making it ideal for editing videos, animation, game development, and more.

Anti-Reflective Coating
The Apple Studio Display XDR is available with either a standard glass or nano-texture glass finish. Both are engineered for low reflectivity, but the nano-texture finish offers enhanced glare reduction for harsh lighting conditions and direct sunlight.
12MP Center Stage Camera with Desk View
Designed for exceptional low-light performance with its 12MP sensor, the Center Stage camera ensures that you always look your best when using popular applications such as FaceTime and Zoom. Center Stage technology uses machine learning to keep you in frame and centered as you move around by automatically panning. When others join in or leave the call, the view expands or zooms in.

Edge Light illuminates your face by brightening the edges of the screen to create a virtual ring light. Additionally, Desk View support provides a top-down view of your workspace while keeping you on screen to enhance presentations and demonstrations.

They Can Hear You, and Only You
A studio-grade three-mic array with directional beamforming helps to ensure that you come through loud and clear on video calls and voice recordings while reducing environmental noise.
Six-Speaker Cinematic Sound
Four force-cancelling woofers deliver bold, deep bass with minimum distortion while the two high-performance tweeters provide accurate mids and crisp highs to fully immerse you in audio.

Dolby Atmos virtual surround sound immerses you in audio by creating a personal movie theater or concert hall experience.

Extensive Connectivity
Connect your system through the Thunderbolt 5 port, which can transfer up to 120 Gb/s data and 140W charging power to your compatible Mac laptop. The second Thunderbolt 5 port allows you to daisy chain an additional Studio Display XDR monitor for an expansive workspace. The rear panel also includes two 10 Gb/s compatible USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports that work with external storage drives, tablets, and phones.
VESA Mount Adapter
This display includes a 100 x 100mm VESA adapter for landscape or portrait mode mounting on a wall, swivel arm, or multi-monitor stand. Users have the option of purchasing a stand that allows you to adjust the tilt by 30° or one that supports both tilt and height adjustments.
Reference Modes
Reference Modes reconfigure the display to match a variety of color standards, optimizing values such as color space, white point, gamma, and brightness. Users can also set up their own custom profile as needed. Reference mode presets include:

    Apple XDR Standard Reviews

Stunning monitor with fantastic color accuracy

Yes, it’s expensive, but if it’s in your budget, it’s well worth it for photo and video enthusiasts. Picture quality is stunning, and the measurements are equally impressive: after calibrating and fine-tuning with a Calibrite Display Plus HL, the DeltaE for HDR10-P3 in BT2020 was an amazing 0.86 (with yellow at 0.21). Zero regrets!

    Excellent quality

The price was hard to swallow, but there aren't many HiDPI 120Hz monitors with crisp, pin-sharp text, excellent color accuracy for photo/video editing, and built-in webcam/mic/speakers for decluttering one's desk. It oozes build quality, so it should hopefully outlast my plasticky old Dell UltraSharp which started glitching after 2 years. I can live with its limitations, but there's enough of them that I'll give it 4 stars instead of 5. - it only has a (single) Thunderbolt 5 input interface - no DVI/HDMI - the stand is integrated so you can't decide later to VESA mount it. (Buy the VESA mount version for that) - the standard glossy display is reflective. I don't notice this unless I look for it, and its only visible on a dark background. So far nothing I can't solve by cranking up the brightness. If you hate reflections, get the nano texture version. - it has no buttons. It works natively with the brightness/volume buttons on a Mac keyboard, which I see as a plus, but if you use this with a PC you'll need to install software to control the brightness/volume/etc. - its only 27". I'd have loved about 30" but realistically 27" is the widest my field of view can handle, any larger and i'm having to move my neck to see what is on my screen. - I've been told in meetings that the picture from its webcam doesn't look as good as from my Macbook's webcam. - the nano texture edition comes with a cleaning cloth, but the standard display doesn't. Come on Apple! I'm using a M3 MacBook Pro with the M3 Pro chip and it works great. I've heard that some Macs can't actually drive it at 5K120 so be sure to check before buying.
