MikroTik EG25-GKNE Overview

With its compact design, the KNOT Embedded LTE4 Global from MikroTik makes it easy to add 3G LTE Cat 4 connectivity to your installation. Adding a separately purchased nano SIM or eSIM from your preferred carrier to this industrial gateway enables up to 150 Mb/s downlink and 50 Mb/s uplink speeds in addition to Bluetooth and GNSS support.

You can use the KNOT as your primary or backup internet connection for a variety of IoT devices, including kiosks, vending machines, and digital signs. Devices may connected through the Gigabit speed RJ45 port. You can operate the gateway using the included power adapter or by connecting it to a PoE+ compatible switch. Connecting devices to the GPIO header allows for simple automation and monitoring. You can optimize your space by mounting the KNOT onto a DIN rail flat or on its side. Use the RouterOS platform for management.

Please note that external main, GNSS, and DIV antennas must be purchased separately. This device is designed to support global LTE bands, including North America. Check with your service provider for compatibility.

MikroTik EG25-GKNE Reviews

Works Great on T-Mobile and Verizon networks

I've used it with a physical SIM on Visible (MVNO of Verizon) and e-sim on Mint (MVNO of T-Mobile). I was able to get it up and running from scratch in a couple of hours. Connects to cell towers as expected. Out of the box, it uses the lte networks for WAN as I expected and it uses the single ethernet port as a DHCP server to connect downstream devices. Works exactly as I hoped. You do need to buy a separate antenna for the LTE and GPS to work properly. It won't connect at all (vs. weak signal) without those.

These units come in 2 different format, this one is for USA use. The intenal ESIM was not able to connect to any local cell service AT&T, TMobile, so I had to place a Verizon nano SIM card in place to get it to work. With a little finessing I was able to get it online and working. This is being used exclusively for a redundant backend wireless connection to our fiber network in the event of an outage. I love Mikrotik for it's performance and reliability. B&H was very helpful in getting me the correct device for use in the USA.
