ZWO AM3N Strain Wave Gear Mount

Providing smooth strain wave gearing and neat cable management, the ZWO AM3N Strain Wave Gear Mount offers altazimuth operation for observation and go-to equatorial tracking via an app or a hand controller for astrophotography. The mount weighs just nine pounds but can support up to 17.6 pounds on its own or 28.7 pounds with a user-supplied counterweight and shaft. The brake system prevents the mount from toppling if the power is cut off. The mount runs on a user-supplied 12V, 3A power supply and is compatible with ASCOM and ZWO's ASIAIR platforms.

Lightweight, High Payload
  • Weighs 9 pounds
  • Supports 17.6 pounds without counterweight
  • Supports 28.7 pounds with optional counterweight
Strain-Wave Gear for Precision Control
  • Strain-wave gearing system comes with very low periodic errors, smooth gearing, and high torque
  • Reduction ratio is 300:1
  • Each mount is tested and shipped with a periodic error curve report
Dual AZ/EQ Modes
  • Capable of both equatorial and altazimuth modes
  • Suitable for both visual and imaging
  • Elevation angle of 0-90°
  • Can be used anywhere from the equator to the polar regions
Cable Management
Power in/out and USB-C ports are located on the dovetail to prevent the power supply and control cables from tangling
Magnetic Recess for Hex Wrench
The mount's hex wrench resides in a magnetized recess behind the left latitude lock knob and the knob design won't interfere with access to the tool.
Mode Indication
  • Red light is displayed for equatorial mount mode
  • Green light is displayed for alt-azimuth mode
  • If the mount has no synchronization, the indicator light flashes alternately red and green, and the corresponding color indicator light will be displayed according to the mode after synchronization
Joystick Handset or App Control
  • Control via the included hand controller or from your phone or tablet using the AM5 app
  • App offers onscreen joystick and convenient tools including Best Objects of the Evening and a built-in star map with real-time display and GoTo functions
  • There is no need to connect to a computer—the mount and hand controller connect via Wi-Fi
  • The mount is compatible with ASCOM, INDI, ASIAIR, and other platforms
Power-Off Braking
  • In the event of power failure, brakes are instantly applied to prevent damage to the telescope and equipment from falling
ZWO Carbon Fiber Tripod

Built for ZWO telescope mounts but also compatible with iOptron, Sky-Watcher, and Rainbow Astro, this Carbon Fiber Tripod provides a stable platform for your night sky observation and photography. The two-section legs extend to a 31.5" maximum height with a lock on the spider and a spreader bar providing security. The included weight bag can be used to add stability.

ZWO AM3N Reviews

Excellent mount

The ZWO AM3N paired with the ZWO ASIAIR controller has made astrophotography imaging incredibly easier and more efficient. I was having difficulty using my visual astrophotography mount as I spent more time with astrophotography imaging, so I purchased the AM3N. The AM3N is light and easy to carry. It mounts easily to the carbon fiber tripod. Once the ASIAIR is connected, I have total control of the mount for polar alignment, tracking and guiding. The guidance graph documents the tracking is within 0.5 arc-sec. Amazing. Everything is coordinated and handled through the controller. Since I also use a battery for powering the system, this is a really portable, but advanced, imaging setup. Highly recommended.
