Sony Sub 9 Large Reviews

Sony SA-SW9 Bravia Subwoofer

We have the Sony Bravia 9 II with the Sony Bravia soundbar 9. We wanted to get the complete surround sound, so we bought the Bravia rear speakers and the subwoofer. The subwoofer is a little disappointing in that its sound is a little bit low. We've got it set to maximum, and the app gives three choices of distance from the listening location to the subwoofer. We put it at the maximum distance. You don't really hear a sound, but you feel a pressure in your ears when it plays the low bass frequencies. We were expecting to hear a little bit more low-frequency bass sound, so in that respect, it's a little disappointing.

This is the Sony Sub I needed

I am very pleased with this subwoofer. I had the previous entry-level version of the Sub 3, which had no bass at all, and was hesitant on the Sub-5 because of the fact that it was probably mediocre as well. Although I have the BAR9 and the RS5 for the rear, the key area Sony skimped on was bass in the sub. In purchasing this one, I was reluctant, however. Upon arrival, from the sheer weight of it, I knew it was something special. And once connected, I played Mad Max & Sinners. It floored me.The frequencies get that sub bass for real-Low. And it's meaty, creamy. Clean base. Period. Music sounds fantastic as well. It's not the type of base that gives you a headache. It's the type of base that you feel. I sat on the actual sub9, and I could not feel it move at all, except for the air coming through the opening. It's sturdy. Period. If you are in the market for it and have the Bar 9, Bar 8, or whatever, the older A5000 or 7000, this subwoofer will satisfy mostly any need. The beautiful part about it is, if one doesn't do it, you can add a second one if you have one of the soundbars that are currently out from the 7, 8, or the 9 Bar. It would be nice to have a second one, but my room isn't that big, and it's not necessary, but it's nice to know you can do it. So having said all of this, I just want to make it clear that I'm sure people will be looking to see if this was a worthy investment although it wasn't necessarily a need, it was just for my personal satisfaction in the bass dept. To not wonder about Sonos or any of the others- if they were better. And patience has paid off. I am now satisfied. The price isn't super high when you look at Sonos and everyone else, but this subwoofer is truly, truly quality and worthy of a bass heads ultimate desire. Its a wonderful upgrade that I look to enjoy for some time to come!
