GoPro MISSION 1 PRO ILS Overview

Taking cine characteristics and squeezing them into an action camera form factor, the GoPro MISSION 1 PRO ILS features an MFT lens mount, a 50MP 1" image sensor, and a GP3 processor to easily capture up to 8K30 and 4K120 Open Gate video. Dedicated low-light capture and a wide 14-stop dynamic range make for efficient image capture in any environment. A 159° field of view and enhanced zooming modes ensure you don't miss any of the action. Swap between different Micro Four Thirds mount lenses for flexibility on set. Other updates include improved battery life and thermal performance for increased dependability.
Micro Four Thirds Lens Mount
Swap between different MFT lenses thanks to the native mount on the MISSION 1 PRO ILS camera. Easily swap between different focal lengths while maintaining a lightweight form factor thanks to the small design of most MFT lenses.
Note:
When using lenses weighing more than 8.8 oz (250 g) it is highly recommended to use a lens support.
GP3 Processor & 1" Image Sensor
The new GP3 processor and increased 1" image sensor work in tandem with one another for sharper footage with faster frame rates. The MISSION 1 series delivers twice the pixel processing power over other GoPro models for natural, cinematic video and minimal noise in low-light or night applications. Quad Bayer mode unlocks 2x video zoom and 12MP mode in 4K shooting scenarios.
8K & 4K Open Gate
The MISSION 1 series easily captures Open Gate footage, a taller 4:3 video frame than other capture modes. Open Gate is available in both 8K30 and 4K120 resolutions for more flexibility in editing, reframing, and content delivery.
50MP Raw Photo Capture
Take up to 50MP 12-bit raw photos or use Quad Bayer mode and shoot 12MP raw with dual gain for brighter final products. Other photo modes include interval and burst shooting, ensuring you don't miss any of the action.
Smarter AI Algorithms
An advanced Neural Processor Unit with 4x the processing power operates real-time subject detection for objects and people. The NPU also enhances sharpness and reduces noise to keep your footage crisp and clean.
HyperSmooth Stabilization
The MISSION 1 series HyperSmooth protocol features fine-tuned performance for action sports and underwater activities. AutoBost adjusts your shot based on speed and movement, while Horizon Lock keeps your footage level even when rotating a full 360°.
Comprehensive Audio Capture
Four built-in microphones easily capture stereo 32-bit float audio and adjust for unforeseen disturbances using wind noise reduction. Additional automatic gain control allows for precise limiting. Connect a USB-C or wireless audio device using the onboard port or via Bluetooth in tandem with the GoPro Wireless Mic Transmitter.
Intelligent Shooting Modes
Internal creative modes like Vlog and Low Light use advanced algorithms and neural libraries to achieve your creative vision. These tools help with noise reduction, subject tracking, and facial recognition. Create a customized carousel of your most-used modes for easy swapping between.
Freeze the Moment
Slow motion has received a huge boost with the MISSION 1 series. Choose between 4K240 for 8x slow motion, 1440p480 for 16x slow motion, or even 1080p960 for Burst Slo-Mo capturing 10 seconds of up to 32x.
More Enhanced Features
  • Record in Hybrid Log Gamma for greater dynamic range in 8K.
  • GP-Log and 10-bit color enhance color depth for smoother gradations and realism.
  • Sync multiple MISSION 1 series cameras using Timecode Sync for improved multicamera post-production workflows.
  • A 2.59" OLED rear screen and 1.4" front LCD offer comprehensive image monitoring.
  • Fine-tune settings with real-time onscreen indicators for things like white balance, EV, ISO, and shutter values on your MISSION 1 PRO ILS display.
  • In-camera Power Tools maximize your battery life. HindSight captures up to 30 seconds of footage before you start recording. Scheduled Capture turns the GoPro on by itself to get a shot up to 24 hours in advance. Duration Capture can capture video clips from 15 seconds to 3 hours long.
  • Capture GPS data to overlay over your footage.
Faster Transferring & Unlimited Cloud Backup
Transfer content via Wi-Fi 6 to the cloud for more reliable offloads. Use the USB-C port for a wired connection option or an SD card to transfer content to a computer. Unlimited cloud storage can be accessed with a GoPro subscription; just plug your camera in when connected to your home Wi-Fi.
GoPro Quik App
Easy-to-use tools allow you to edit your footage, tweak automatically generated highlight videos, or make your own videos from scratch. Change digital lenses after recording, zoom in on the best frames, and create thumbnails for your next social media post or YouTube video. Wirelessly upload video to your Quik app without needing to use the USB-C connection on the camera. Create presets of your go-to settings for easy recall.
Improved Battery Life
A higher-capacity, tougher 2150mAh Enduro 2 battery can operate your MISSION 1 series camera for up to five hours at a time while recording 1080p30 video. A redesigned thermal management system keeps the camera cooler and running more efficiently in both extreme cold and heat. The battery has fast-charging capabilities, getting you back up and going at 80% in just 27 minutes.

GoPro MISSION 1 PRO ILS Reviews

A DRAMATIC step up from your usual GoPro

Is this camera controversial? YES! But I have to say that I am incredibly impressed with this little camera. While the 8k is quite noisy, which I believe which is due to the dual bayer construction of the sensor, the number of shooting modes you have in 4k is remarkable. I have shot on a wide range of cameras over the years and have always wanted something that was as small a form factor as possible while allowing you to customize the look of your image via prime lenses. I have shot on many different dslr and mirrorless bodies over the years and the problem is that these bodies still add a lot of weight and result in an unwieldy setup while also lacking decent In Body Image Stabilization (essential for what I do) There are also times when you want to strip down to a more "bare bones" setup, and when you accompany this with some of the very lightweight TT Artisan lenses, the result is easily the most compact cinema camera on the market. The images this thing is able to put out go far beyond its class, and I have had an incredible amount of fun getting back to EXPERIMENTATION with filmmaking The sheer number of affordable, high quality lenses available makes it easy to have many different options available depending on what you are going for. It is truly incredible to have a full set of primes for a few hundred dollars. This was something I dreamt of and sought after for YEARS but was deterred by the size and weight of most cinema cameras and cinema glass. GoPros were always a very appealing option since they are incredibly lightweight, but I was not a fan of how you were essentially stuck with crop modes and did not have full control over the look of your image. It always deterred me from using a GoPro for everything, even if it was the easiest option available. The ILS is truly a dream. I have had immense pleasure kitting this thing out and it has brought me back to the joy that first got me into filmmaking. Have I rigged this thing out to an absurd degree? YES, but I am LOVING IT. If I was a starting filmmaker looking to get my first camera, I don't think there is a better option than the ILS. It punches so far above its weight class (no pun intended) with the smallest footprint on the market while still having the connectivity options of larger camera bodies. It also gives you a pathway towards acquiring gear that can be used on more high end camera bodies. Give me more stars, 5 is not enough. GoPro has truly made a new camera category. Consider me SOLD :)

What a fun and amazing little camera

I first purchased the mission 1 pro while waiting for the ils. I needed a new action cam but the ILS is what I really wanted. And boy it is not disappointing. I use canons RF system for photography but the lenses are huge. My eos R is a great stills camera but not great at filming. If I wanted a cinema body to go with my RF glass i would have to spend $3500 for the base body and it would still be large which often dissuades me from filming while working, traveling etc. Now I can carry to cameras in my tiny laptop bag that have way better frame rates, battery life etc than the eos R. Shooting manual lenses is really nice. Theres shots you just cant get with auto focus. Looking back I realized how often I still need to manual focus my auto focus lenses to get the shot and they are a pain to manual focus. Manual lenses opens up so many creative opportunities. Its nice to be able to focus using the lens annotations and not needing to look at the camera to focus. Or quickly change aperture using the camera ring. Ive never had access to slomo either and man has that been a cool addition to my workflows.
