Dedicated to select Sony cameras, the NP-SA100 Battery is a 2670 mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery. This high-capacity battery can be charged inside compatible cameras or is compatible with the BC-SAD1 Battery Charger. Also, it supports Sony's Battery Health Check system, which is visible on a camera's monitor, to avoid unexpected battery issues and identify the right time to replace.

Just an early assessment: How its used it will determine how long the charge lasts: I took over 5000 photos: AF-C short 2-4 frame bursts (RAW) covering a 4 hour event and only had to swap the battery out near the very end. On the other hand I ran through the entire charge during a morning tracking ospreys, swallows and dragonflies: I'm guessing around 2 hours of it with some combination of AF and pre-capture engaged: so the processor is constantly cycling to the buffer and AF is running - even though I took just a few hundred frames and wasn't using the back screen. So, power draw may be on par with taking video in that circumstance. Reasonably impressive. A big plus is the battery recharges quickly: Less than 2 hours? on a PD3 USB-C battery pack (also can be used for powering the camera for video). 2 NP-SA100a, a PD3 battery pack and the OEM charger are up to the job of a busy day of photo and video.
It is a battery. It is on the large side, but it works and lasts a long time. I only do photography, and I did not even use half of it after a day of walking around on vacation and taking a few hundred pictures. Because of its boxy dimensions, carrying a spare is somewhat inconvenient if you have a small bag, but it is a minor issue.
