The black, mini OP/TECH USA Hood Hat is designed to fit a lens and shade with a diameter from approximately (6.4 to 7.6 cm). Simply placing the Hood Hat onto the front of the hood while in place will provide just as much protection for the critical front lens elements as would be provided by a traditional lens cap. The neoprene material will adjust to fit both round and elliptical "petal-type" shades.

Lens hoods with significantly larger opening than the lens diameter may require larger model hood hat. This item is made in the USA.

Neoprene stretches for a custom fit on round or elliptical "petal-type" shades
Protects lens and shade against dust, moisture and impact
Cylindrical design for better fit

Hood Hat, Mini is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from make sure it fits! Op/Tech's hood hats (or lens koozies, as I like to call them) are a definite plus and I have one for each of my larger lenses and a mini-hood hat I use as a cover-all for smaller lenses when I'm carrying my camera but not using it. I like that they're dirt-proof, somewhat waterproof and easy to use and stow when working. The only thing I would advise is buying a hood hat that fits snuggly rather than a bit loose. I'd say it's safer to buy a smaller size than suggested because it order to do its job properly, a hood hat must seal off the area surrounding the front lens element - a loose one just won't do the trick. No real cons. If you lose one or if it gets worn out, you won't be out a huge amount of money and it's easy enough to buy another as a back-up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect protection for lenses I have several older Pentax M and A lenses and as with other brands they don't have bayonet hoods, they're all screw in types. Naturally many after market generic lens hoods that are the tulip type it's impossible the get the lens cap on. The Op-Tech Hood hat eliminates the need to remove the the lens hood and gives the lens excellent protection as well as keeping dust of the lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Covers Panasonic Lumix 7-14mm Lens I bought this to cover the front element of my Panasonic Lumix G Vario 7-14mm f/4.0 lens. While not a replacement for the original lens cap, it is an inexpensive and readily available substitute. It covers the front 1/2 of this lens snugly and extends back as far as the aperture ring. Should prove effective in damp or breezy shooting conditions too. Replacement front caps for this lens are costing 3X as much so consider this as good alternative. Just keep in mid this is a soft cover and will not protect from impact or punctures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OP / TECH USA gear Rocks Lens hoods are great for protecting lenses, the Hood Hat, Mini is a nice little neoprene cover that cushions your lens hood. Highly recommend it. The Hood Hat Mini's home is on my sony zeiss 55mm 1.8 lens - I use it on the hood both front facing and rear facing. I also use it over the barrel - when un-hooded, when hood not in use. if using it un-hooded, keep in mind that It only covers the front 1/2 of the barrel. Imagine placing hood backward on your lens. That is the real estate it covers. Still, it acts as a nice little buffer, providing me with peace of mind, and the lens with a little protection from bumps. I like to cover all my gear with some type of neoprene cover and this one, as with all OP / TECH USA gear I've purchased so far, is perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If in Doubt, Wear a Hat I was unhappy with how the lens cap fit when using a filter so I decided to try this. It fit snugly over my Fuji 18-55mm lens with the plastic hood still mounted. Taking it on or off requires a few seconds more than the lens cap but it doesn't fall off as easily and provides decent protection to the entire lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good buy. Fits well, easy to get on and off without being too loose. Protects the lens from dust and moisture and accidental hits.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fits over lens with a sunshade I got this model to fit over my Fuji 18mm lens with a sunshade, and the medium size to fit over my Zeiss Touit 12mm lens with sunshade for my Fuji XE1 camera. Fits nicely over the lens and also provides some added padding for the lens and camera too. The only drawback is that it's a little bit of a struggle to stretch it over the lens, but it's not really too bad. Overall a great solution to wanting to leave the sunshade attached to the lens.
