The black, mini OP/TECH USA Hood Hat is designed to fit a lens and shade with a diameter from approximately (6.4 to 7.6 cm). Simply placing the Hood Hat onto the front of the hood while in place will provide just as much protection for the critical front lens elements as would be provided by a traditional lens cap. Perfect for Leica Summilux-M 28mm f/1.4 ASPH

Note that the Leica hood cap 14480 for the Leica Summilux-M 28mm f/1.4 ASPH seems to be discontinued in 2023 and is near impossible to find unless you're willing to spend some serious cash for one. I nearly lost mine, but managed to find it on the ground after spending 40 minutes retracing my steps. Do yourself a favor and leave the original Leica hood cap in the box, or at least only use it when storing the lens at home in the leather lens case. The reference chart for the OP/TECH USA Hood Hat suggests the Mini for size of the Leica Summilux-M 28mm f/1.4 ASPH hood. The fit is perfect.

The OP/TECH USA Hood Hat, Mini is designed to cover interchangeable lenses with a diameter of 2.5-3.0". This would be more than sufficient for the Leica Q2 Monochrom Digital Camera: B&H # LEQ2M.

I have lenses for a Sony a6000. The lens diameters indicate I buy the micro size, but the hood diameters suggest the mini size. Which measurement should I go by?

Since I do not have the camera, I cannot say exactly, but I think it depends on how lose you want the hat to fit. They are supposed to stretch onto the lens, so you want to buy one that is smaller than the lens diameter. But I know myself that they can be hard to put on if they are too snug and require too much stretching. But then they stay on better, of course, so it IS hard to tell. I think I'd go with the smaller one, especially if the lens is shallow - i.e. not very long. If the hat is too big and just kind of loosely holding on, it will probably be falling off if the lens isn't very long. Just MHO.

Thank you to the folk who answered my initial question! I guess the clarification I'm looking for is regarding the measurement stated in the item description. The measurement given is for the lens it seems, not the hood. So, for example, would the micro hood (for a LENS between 2.0 to 2.5 inches) be the right size if that lens has a 2.75 inch hood? Thank you!

Yes it will fit a 2.75 diameter lens because material is elastic like that of Urethane foam wet suit for divers. I suspect that if you left hood on 2.75 lens for long-term storage, hood may no longer fit as snugly on 2.5 diameter lens. Just a theory. I use hood on Sony 10-18mm ultra wide lens which has 2.75 Diameter. Hood is well made. Good insurance. Shelly on Oct 31, 2015
