Panasonic L10 Overview

Premium Precision and Versatility
Offering advanced versatility and impressive quality in a sleek, stylish design, the Panasonic LUMIX L10 is a premium compact camera characterized by the unique 20.4MP Multi-Aspect BSI CMOS sensor and a Leica-designed 24-75mm-equivalent zoom lens. The large sensor and flexible zoom realize a multimedia creator's tool that's capable of recording rich photos with unique Photo Style or videos up to 5.6K with accurate focus, reliable OIS, and a handsome camera body design.
Multi-Aspect BSI CMOS Sensor
20.4MP Four Thirds Sensor
Offering the option to shoot 4:3, 3:2, 1:1, or 16:9 aspect ratios with no angle of view compromises, the Multi-Aspect sensor design lets you capture a shot once and then select your ratio later while maintaining full 20.4MP, uncropped output. The sensor itself is a Four Thirds-format BSI CMOS sensor, offering impressive noise performance, an ISO 100-25600 range, and high clarity in a variety of lighting conditions, along with a speedy 30 fps burst shooting rate.
5.6K & 4K Video
In addition to stills, this is a proven sensor for high-quality video work, offering 5.6K 30p and DCI 4K 120p recording in 4:2:0 10-bit or DCI 4K 60p recording in 4:2:2 10-bit. The Multi-Aspect sensor enables open gate recording to suit shooting in a variety of aspect ratios for social media output and the camera also incorporates V-Log for more control over color grading in post. Additionally, there is a new MP4 Lite recording mode that keeps file sizes small and easy to share and upload to social media sites.
Real Time LUTs and Photo Styles
Benefitting both stills and videos, the L10 allows applying Real Time LUTs while shooting for more creative color styles in-camera. Film-inspired Photo Styles, like L.Classic and L.Classic Gold can be used for either medium and the LUMIX Lab app can also be used to customize and apply looks instantly so photos and videos are ready to share right away.
Leica DC Vario-Summilux 24-75mm Lens
Fast, Flexible Zoom
Matching the versatility of the sensor, the camera also integrates a Leica-design DC Vario-Summilux 10.9-34mm f/1.7-2.8 zoom, which offers a 24-75mm full-frame equivalent field of view. This standard zoom suits everyday shooting, from portraiture to landscapes, and the bright f/1.7-2.8 maximum aperture range is ideal for available-light shooting and for controlling depth of field with selective focus. Additionally, the lens can focus as close as 1.2" away for macro-like performance when photographing close-up subjects.
Autofocus and Image Stabilization
Advanced AI-based subject detection recognizes and locks onto eyes, faces, pets, vehicles, and other moving subjects for quick, precise, and smooth focus performance. This hybrid phase-detection and contrast-detection system performs in a variety of lighting conditions and is well-matched to both photo and video recording methods.

Additionally, POWER O.I.S. (optical image stabilization) helps steady handheld shots for sharper results, especially when working in low-light conditions and with slower shutter speeds.
Body Design
EVF and LCD
Despite the compact design, the camera features both a viewfinder and a rear monitor. The finder is a 0.39" OLED panel with 2.36m-dot resolution that is bright and clear for eye-level viewing in a variety of lighting conditions. Complementing this is a 3.0" 1.84m-dot free-angle touchscreen LCD screen, which can be adjusted to suit working at low and high working angles.
Stylish and Functional Aesthetics
  • A standout feature of the L10 is its premium streamlined appearance, which is distinguished by a Saffiano leatherette textured grip and intuitive mechanical controls on the body.
  • The lens has a manual aperture ring, there is an aspect ratio selector dial surrounding the lens, and the top of the camera has two selection dials for quick settings adjustments.
  • Top hot shoe permits working with an external flash.
  • Included DMW-BLK22 lithium-ion battery provides around 420 shots per charge with the LCD or 410 shots per charge with the EVF.
  • Single SD memory card slot and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless connectivity permits file transfers and remote camera settings control.
  • USB-C can be used for in-camera battery charging, data transfer, or for UVC-compliant livestreaming.
  • 3.5mm microphone input permits working with external mics while recording video.

Panasonic L10 Reviews

Replaced my stolen Fuji X100vi

After a lot of research, found the Lumix L10 to be a superior replacement for my stolen FujiX100vi. Great handling and portability, great flexibilty with mutiple focal lengths, and the photo quality (great lens) is every bit as good if not more interesting wiht the Luts... JPEGs out the camera are terrific and the video is a real bonus! Will be my go to daily and travel camera! Was happy and pleased to get my hands on one.

Almost the perfect travel compact camera

I've been waiting quite some time for a compact like this. Having used a Canon G1X Mark III for years, this felt like the most modern take from a manufacturer in replacing that camera for me. Image quality is really good overall and the lens quality is great. Having a f/1.7 fast aperture zoom on a large-ish sensor makes for some great images in a variety of situations. Video quality is also really high, with 10-bit 4:2:2 oversampled DCI 4K in-camera. The AF is much better than the previous Panasonic LX100 Mark II, especially for video. No more indecisive contrast DFD autofocus. It's not quite at the level of Canon's DPAF, but is still quite good. Two quirks from this camera prevent it from being a truly perfect everyday carry camera. One is it lacks the same level of track to recompose focus method that Canon cameras have. The AF point stays in the same place in the frame, instead of sticking to what you intended to keep in focus when you recompose. I love this on Canon, so I hope this can be added down the line. Currently, you have to be in tracking mode, pick your subject, then keep the shutter half-pressed to track. The other issue is the lens strangely has exposure jumps in video when you zoom. Even when you pick an aperture from f/2.8 or narrower, you still record these jumps throughout the zoom range. So it is not a result of the variable aperture. This is rather disappointing on what is otherwise excellent overall video quality. I haven't been able to try out Real Time LUTs enough to comment, but I'd imagine this is what will really make this camera shine. It's an overall excellent EDC camera. Perfect for vacations and street photography. Small enough to not get in the way of experiencing your trips in the moment, yet plenty tactile to have an engaging experience with capturing images and videos for your memories for years to come. Once they can fix the above, I truly think its the perfect travel camera.
