BLAZAR LENS TALON 35mm T2.1 1.5x Anamorphic A... Reviews
Auto Focus works great!
Used it for a football reel. Footage came out great without having to worry about pulling focus.
Shhh, don't tell anyone else. Secret weapon.
I always thought you needed open gate and mechanical focus gears to run an anamorphic lens. I was following Sirui for a while now, and finally I rent down a rabbit hole discovering that these 2 companies released fullframe autofocus anamorphic lenses. Short review is it's phenomenal. Shooting an a Sony A7V which doesn't have open gate it still works perfectly. I think that the 1.5x squeeze is actually ideal for a 16:9 camera. I get pixel perfect 2:67:1 and with a teensy horizontal crop I have cinemascope 2.4:1. It looks like I'm making movies now, not just science youtube content. I went to film school 20 years ago and I honestly never thought that I'd be ab le to produce such stunning footage myself, at least without a 1/4 million dollar rig. Great time to be in film. The autofocus is silent, it's quite good with my A7V, although not as sticky as using native Sony glass. It's more than good enough, no distracting hunting. The lens flares are perfectly balanced for me, they're not obnoxious, and I like that they're not blue, as I find that gets old. The barrel distortion at the edges is very cinematic, so much so that I'm not correcting for it, nor am I cropping it out. For reference I've used 4x stacked filters each about 6mm, and one adapter, and I'm just baaarely seeing a hint of vignetting, so I'm quite happy with that. Overall, the best snap purchase decision I've made in a long time. Changes the look of the deliverable more than the lighting, the camera body, or even proper audio. 10/10 I might buy the whole set once they come out with the telephoto. My only issue is what to do with my old lenses now.
