  • 1Description

The Photoflex Adjustable Shoe Mount Connector for Small to Medium Litedome Softboxes accepts most shoe-mount flashes. It connects to a Photoflex, or Chimera Speed Ring, and allows use of that flash with a 12x16" softbox.

The Photoflex Extra Small LiteDome comes with a universal speed ring. This adapter connects to that, or any other Speed Ring.
Height of your flash is easily adjusted, and locked into place in the optimum position.

Adjustable Shoe Mount Connector for Small to Medium Litedome Softboxes is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 79.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from nice but over priced for its build I use it with my SB-800's and a Medium sized softbox. It works well although it is not built to withstand long term use. Mine has started to bend where the two peaces join. I also notice, when mounted on in a way that the softox is pointed down there is visible flex on the whole unit. The shoe mount is also metal so you will have to tape it up so that your flash will not ground out and start having a hissy fit firing repetitively. So, aside from build this is a pretty effective bracket that will work well, especially if you are not using it super often with softbox's larger the then the Xsmal/small. It would be nice if it had a 3/8th thread instead of the dinky 1/4 inch one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Below Poor Tried set this up tonight with a Photoflex Medium box and their speedring. First of all the mounting knurled screw female thread is 1/4-20. All my stands are 3/8. I was concerned that this was too small a post for the weight. Attached the softbox and bingo! The post snapped. The combination of the ring and box is just overload for that small hardware. I've emailed Photoflex a couple of hours ago but as this is the week end I didn't expect a response yet. Considering the country of mfg. I should not be surprised.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable The product appears to both function and operate as intended with good build quality and no resistance. The parts appear legitimate and well constructed, optimal for quickly and precisely adjusting or otherwise manipulating the position of additional equipment (such as the intended Photoflex XS Litedome) and camera flashes - in my case, the Canon 580EX II. Instructions are written in the typical ambiguous and confusing fashion with accompanying 80's black and white photography. If assembling to other parts of for the first time, approach doing so slowly. Once repeated a few times, assembly of other parts onto the Shoe Mount is extraordinarily simple and quick.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent but can be improved. This is a good alternative to the well-built but pricy Westcott Magic Slipper. For Version 2.0, I would like to see a better quality material used. Currently, it's too flimsy and easily bent. When mounting to a stand or tilt bracket, the spigot won't screw all the way in which leaves a gap. So perhaps a deeper female socket on the adapter. This is a no-brainer. A stopper on one end on both shoe mounts. Your flash can easily slide and fall off if it's not super-tight on the mount. Finally the Basic Photoflex Speedring that this adapter is intended for doesn't sit straight on the bracket. Again, quality and build just needs to be improved on this great concept.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Flimsy, Bad construction, Striped thread I am using this product with the PhotoFlex 18 octodome ext small. I like the adjustability of the unit but it does not mesh well. The lever that holds the flashes with the shoe mounts moves no matter how tight you tighten the screw. One of the shoe mount screws that locks in the flash or flash trigger stripped as I was placing the flash onto it. The shoe clamp barely fits over the flash shoe or my wizard shoe. This does not give me much confidence that the shoe will hold up during a wedding. ...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works fine but is not too sturdy I use it to mount my Nikon SB800 shoe mount flash units in various soft boxes for off-camera lighting. It works for that purpose but is not very sturdy. You have to carefully check that all the screws are tight, and they come loose very easily. In fact I always use some gaffers tape as a safety belt to ensure the SB800 stays in place.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just right This works perfectly to allow the use of a camera flash (in this case, a Canon 430EX) with a Photoflex xtra-small softbox. My only complaint is that some of the knobs are small and difficult to tighten.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Was great till the screw snapped! Used this with an SB-800 & XXS chimera softbox. Screw snapped off into the speedring after about 10 uses. Wouldn't really recommend, but don't know if there are any stronger options.
