Bringing the duduk's uniquely warm, melancholic voice to your fingertips, ILIO Naada Duduk is a virtual instrument for the GeoShred Studio platform that offers real-time expression, including large-reed dynamic nuance and sustain melodic phrasing via GeoShred Studio's multi-row continuous pitch surface. With advanced AccelMatrix Naada physical modeling, each note is generated as a continuous acoustic event.
By pressing into the grid, you can shape the large reed's dynamic response and tonal weight. Sliding across the grid allows you to trace the sustained, ornamental melodic lines that define duduk performances. You can also engage in polyphonic performances, with support for sustain drone tones under melodic lines, chord voicings, and simultaneous layered independent phrases. Use GeoShred Studio's integrated FX rack for sweetening your performance with reverb, amp simulation, echo, and more. Naada Duduk requires GeoShred Studio (sold separately) to function, which is available in AU, AU3, VST3, or standalone formats for macOS only.
That warm, reedy timbre has made the duduk a defining sound in film scoring, used extensively by composers including Peter Gabriel, Hans Zimmer, and Howard Shore to convey ancient, spiritual, and deeply emotional contexts. The model captures the duduk’s distinctive large-reed dynamic sensitivity and its capacity for sustained, voice-like melodic expression.
Wind and breath controllers, which align naturally with the duduk’s breath-driven acoustic behavior, connect directly to GeoShred Studio, which is built from the ground up for continuous multidimensional input. GeoShred Control pairs over USB with GeoShred Studio, putting a free multitouch iOS surface in a performer’s hands during live play.
