Offering massive dynamic projection and elaborate raga ornamentation, ILIO Naada Nadaswaram is a virtual instrument for the GeoShred Studio platform that offers real-time pitch inflection and commanding acoustic power via GeoShred Studio's multi-row continuous pitch surface. With advanced AccelMatrix Naada physical modeling, each note is generated as a continuous acoustic event.
By pressing into the grid, you can shape the instrument's immense dynamic range. By sliding between positions you can trace the gamakas and phrase shapes that define South Indian raga. You can also engage in fully polyphonic playing, supporting drone tones under melodic lines, chords, or layered, independent phrases. Use GeoShred Studio's integrated FX rack for sweetening your performance with reverb, amp simulation, echo, and more. Naada Nadaswaram requires GeoShred Studio (sold separately) to function, which is available in AU, AU3, VST3, or standalone formats for macOS only.
Despite that raw acoustic power, skilled nadaswaram artists perform lengthy, elaborately ornamented ragas in the Carnatic classical tradition. The model captures both extremes: the instrument’s sheer projection and its capacity for the extended, nuanced ornamental phrases that define South Indian classical performance.
GeoShred Control connects an iPhone or iPad via USB to serve as a dedicated multitouch performance surface alongside GeoShred Studio. MPE-compatible hardware and wind or breath controllers also connect directly for hands-on expressive control.
