Excellent workmanship and easy to use controls

I really wanted to like this camera. I've been using a Fujifilm X100 XI as my walk around camera and have been very happy with the image quality, but find that the fixed lens is too restrictive at times. I was hoping this camera could address that issue. Unfortunately it didn't live up to my expectations. The primary issue is the image quality isn't good enough for a $2,000 camera. It doesn't compare with the X100 and certainly doesn't compare to what I'm used to with my Sony full frame kits. The other problem is that it's excruciatingly slow to start up and shut down. This makes it unsuitable for street photography where opportunities can pop up at any time and you need to be quick to react. So I'll be reluctantly returning it.

The Leica D-Lux 8 Digital Camera does not come with a charger. You can charge the battery inside the camera using a USB-C cable and wall plug such as the Anker 33W 2-Port USB-C/USB-A Wall Charger with USB-C Cable (B&H #ANB2326J211), or you could use the Watson Compact AC/DC external charger for the DMW-BLE9, DMW-BLG10, or BP-DC15 battery (B&H #WACPADMWBLE9).

A Few Questions ... 1) Does the D-Lux 8 use a leaf shutter like the Q series? and 2) What is the # of stills rating for battery life? and 3) is the DNG really only 12 bit and 4) what is the e-shutter readout time.

Yes to the D-Lux 8 having a leaf shutter like the Q series and also the DNG is 12 bit. The e-shutter readout time is fast, with minimum rolling shutter distortion but actual values are not available. Battery life is about 300 shots, depending on how much you are using the zoom, lcd screen, etc., which all affect battery life.
