Viltrox AF 28mm f/4.5 Reviews

Sort of Groundbreaking

It has obvious limitations... but once crop factors are accounted for, f/4.5 on full frame gathers roughly the same light as an APSC f/2.8 lens like on the Ricoh GR IV and pretty much smokes any 1-inch compact point and shoot. Not to mention that with a full frame, you’ll have higher resolution, IBIS, and better autofocus than most point and shoots, making a large swath of that market arguably redundant. All of this for $99. There is also a shortage of full-frame pancake lenses, depending on lens mount. Even when the camera body is compact (S9, A7CII, etc), lens protrusion often prevents the package from feeling portable and usually ends in “I’ll just use my phone”. This lens solves that problem, making compact full frames actually pocketable, and does it better than almost anything available at the time of writing.

Fine Lens Didn't like the fixed aperature

I liked the size of the lens! Super small and the 28mm is my favorite focal length. I just didn't like the fact that the aperature is fixed to 4.5. There is no way to close the lens down further. that might work for some but for me it was an issue. I returned the lens because of this reason alone. otherwise it was a nice lens.
