The Sonifex EXP-D16 is an I/O expansion module for the RM-X series reference monitor, providing eight channels of stereo AES/EBU input and eight channels of stereo AES/EBU output via two dedicated DB25 connectors. All channels are available in the internal routing grid, which can be accessed via web interface.
This card can be installed in the field through a disassembly and reassembly process. Installation is easy with the included power cable and FCC audio/control cable.
It is also well suited to Master Control Room (MCR) environments, where centralized handling of digital audio signals is required for playout, monitoring, and compliance operations. In this role, it provides flexible routing of multiple AES/EBU sources, supporting accurate signal management, coordination of transmission feeds, and overall system integrity within the broadcast chain.
