Ideal as a compliment to the B2 Bomber ADC and B80 Mothership, the Burl Audio B1D is a single-channel 500 series mic pre featuring a discrete, Class-A input circuit, with a BX3 input transformer and BX4 iron output transformer for punchy drums, beautiful guitar tonality, and a biting rock tone. With the stepped gain control, you get up to 70 dB of gain.
This preamp offers independent gain and level for better tonal sculpting. Several button-activated functions are included, such as Lo-Z—for low-impedance sources like ribbon mics, Pad—for a -30 dB pad that can reign in overly hot signals, and +48V phantom power—for condensers, and a polarity reverse. The front-panel 1/4" input is ideal for DI recording with guitars, keyboards, drum machines, and more. Keep an eye on your signal with the tri-colored LED indicator.
For ribbon mics and other low-impedance sources, the B1 has a transformer-coupled impedance selection. The B1 was rigorously tested with the popular Royer R-121 in the low-impedance setting, producing stellar results on guitar amps.
Run your tracks or mixes through the B1D for warmth and glue. The B1D was designed to rock. Run multiple B1D channels for your rhythm tracks and you are there. Replace EQ and compression with true phat analog. Run your primary tracks through the B1D mic pre, follow with a B2 Bomber ADC, and that’s about all you need.
