    Da-Lite 85424 reviews

    85424 Versatol Tripod Projection Screen (84 x 84") is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent screen at an amazing price This is an excellent value. The only reason why I am not giving it 5 stars is because the latch mechanism had a hole with barbs, making it difficult to slide up and down until I cleaned it up. We use it as a family and for group presetations. It works great. At one point I used it at night in a campground. Then folded it up because it was getting windy. The next day when I unrolled it, found lots of mosquitoes and other dead bugs rolled up and smashed on the screen. My fault. A soft wet rag did a great job of cleaning it out, and did not damage the surface. Great reflective surface.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Returning this product for the second time Purchased this screen and returned it. Got the replacement shipment today and will be returning it for the same issues. When retracting this screen it will roll down under tension but then stops part way requiring the user to quickly lift back up until it releases the catch mechanism. This process has to be repeated numerous times to get the screen fully retracted. I've used many screens in the past and each one would retract in one shot. Also, as others have mentioned, the legs are flimsy and do not open or close easily. And, as if this wasn't already enough, the sliding operation is stiff when you try to raise the bottom of the screen. You will have to step on the tripod in order to keep the entire screen and stand from coming off the floor. To make matters worse the replacement came dented in two places. Definitely not buying this one again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Exactly What I Expected I use this for projecting our companies viewing parties when we finish a series or have an episode of one of our shows airing. The size is really what I was shooting for, and in that regard it is perfect. All our shows look expectedly cinematic at 84 inches. However, as everyone else mentioned the legs leave something to be desired. I'm considering just taking them off and rigging something up with a C-stand. Additionally it would be great if you could lock it off at regular intervals instead of the 4 or 5 options that they give you for the size of the screen.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I was not fully satisfied with this product. The quality of the image on the screen was excellent. The tripod was difficult to set up since it has a very weak latch, hard to operate. The screen rolled out nicely out of the case and rolling back in was another story. I took many pulls and let in inch by inch until the whole screen was in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great portable screen I bought this screen for home theater. I like that it is portable for indoor or outdoor use (I've done both). It is very easy to set up, very well constructed and sturdy (steel, not cheap plastic or aluminum). This does make it a bit heavy, but it's an easy one-person setup. Folded up, it is a bit large, so don't be surprised abut that - buy a smaller screen if that's a concern. This is a great product at a great price - I compared this to a lot of other options, and I'm very satisfied with my purchase!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fine when it's up...not easy to break down I purchased this product for my school and haven't used it much. A group used it for a presentation over the weekend and informed me that they couldn't get the screen to roll back into the case. So, I had to go to the auditorium and battle with it. Our janitor figured it out. I don't feel that I should have to explain the screen to every group that might use it, so I would never purchase this again, especially if different people will be using it. Too many chances to get broken.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Spend a bit more for higher grade model All components of this display are a lesser build quality than other Da-Lite screens I have used. The price was attractive and I regret being so frugal. The release mechanisms for the screen and tripod stand do not work easily as you need to be persistent and patient. The screen recoil has also proven to be a bit fussy. The display when setup looks nice with the dark border. No fault of Da-Lite but in hindsight I would also prefer to have gone with a cinema format.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My first screen The price is right and this screen is massive! As those were my two biggest criteria this gets 5 stars. I have only used it once, but since I put on monthly events it will get more use soon. The screen is very big, but actually handles well once out of the box. At 5'8 it can be difficult for me to secure the top, but that's a good thing! (kinda). It was quite easy to set up and maneuver into place to work with my projector. All in all I highly recommend it.
