The AudioPressBox APB-224 C is a professional portable 2-channel active pressbox designed to distribute broadcast-quality audio at indoor and outdoor press conferences. Housed in a heavy-duty IP67 waterproof Nanuk case with a removable lid, it combines two balanced Mic/Line inputs with 24 balanced, individually transformer-isolated Mic/Line outputs.
Flexible Two-Group Audio Distribution
The APB-224 C provides two internal output groups with 12 outputs each. Each input can be routed independently to Output Group A, Group B, or both groups, allowing microphones or other sources to be distributed to separate tracks when needed. Every output can be switched between Mic and Line level, providing flexibility for different recording and broadcast equipment.
Input Processing and Signal Control
Each balanced Mic/Line input features gain control, a 26 dB pad, and switchable 24/48V phantom power for condenser microphones. A switchable high-pass filter provides full-range operation or a 160 Hz low-cut setting to help reduce low-frequency rumble, handling noise, and pops. Each input channel also includes a switchable compressor/limiter to help prevent clipping and distortion.
Monitoring and System Testing
PFL and AFL functions provide convenient input and output monitoring through the headphone control output. PFL allows individual input levels to be checked, while AFL lets operators monitor the output from each group. A constant-level 1 kHz sine-wave test oscillator provides a reference signal for setting levels on connected recording equipment.
Portable Power and Outdoor Protection
A built-in Li-Ion AccuPack with microprocessor-controlled battery management provides up to 10 hours of operation at full load. The rechargeable battery system offers short charging time with no self-discharge or memory effect. Combined with its IP67 waterproof case, the APB-224 C is equipped for portable press audio distribution in both indoor and outdoor environments. The unit is TAA compliant.
