Professional Video & Audio Interfaces
- The CR-N400's professional interfaces include 12G-SDI, 3G-SDI, HDMI, genlock, timecode, and single-cable PoE++ connectivity, letting you use NDI HX2 for video and audio streaming, IP control, tally, and power via one cable. Streaming to social media platforms is supported using protocols like SRT, RTSP/RTP, and RTMP/RTMPS.
- Remote control options include IP, Serial, or IR with support for multiple control standards, including Canon's XC protocol as well as Standard Protocol (serial and IP) for easy connectivity to a wide range of compatible 3rd party hardware controllers.
- Audio inputs comprise one 3.5mm and dual 3-pin XLR inputs.

- DIGIC DV 7—this PTZ camera incorporates Canon's DIGIC DV 7 Image Processor, an essential component in providing advanced performance, convenient operability, and the image-processing power and speed that enables features like 4K UHD video and precise Hybrid AF.
- Hybrid AF—this autofocus system combines high-precision contrast AF technology and the high-speed phase-difference AF technology to confirm autofocus from the camera. This hybrid system helps attain autofocus faster and more reliably compared to contrast autofocus alone.
Crop for Social Media While Broadcasting
In addition to a standard video crop, the CR-N400 also includes a vertical crop mode that enables users to have a separate, real-time 9:16 stream of the main video.
Stunning Optical Precision
The CR-N400's high-performance lens has a 20x optical zoom, with a 35mm-equivalent 29.3-601mm in 23.98/29.97 fps plus a 40x Advanced Zoom 35mm-equivalent 29.3-1202mm when shooting in HD. When your shooting conditions are unstable, Canon's renowned Optical Image Stabilization enables you to still capture steady footage. A built-in, motorized ND filter provides variable exposure control.
Oversampling HD Processing
The full HD capture and output (oversampling HD processing) take full advantage of the image information acquired by the 4K sensor to generate beautiful, stunningly detailed, high-definition full HD video using the CR-N400.
Face, Eye, and Head Detection Autofocus
The CR-N400's outstanding Hybrid Autofocus supports face, eye, and head focusing, ensuring highly accurate focus even when your subject turns around.
Powerful HDR imagery
The versatile CR-N400 lets you capture stunning HDR imagery with direct recording in either PQ or HLG formats. A range of custom picture settings includes Canon Log 3 and Wide Dynamic Range to match the look of other Canon cameras.
Smooth and Responsive Pan/Tilt Performance
The CR-N400 incorporates a drive mechanism that can change the pan/tilt speed in incremental steps. This lets the operator set the speeds to the desired preference to enable smooth pan/tilt movements. The CR-N400 supports a variable pan speed of 0.1 to 100°/second or 200° with presets and a variable tilt speed of 0.1 to 100°/second or 180°/second with presets.
Thumbnail Display for Presets and Recorded Trace Movement
Easier operation and shot recall are enabled by the ability to add thumbnail images for camera presets and for recorded trace movement in the user interface, in the Remote Camera Control Application (RCCA), and on supported hardware controllers.
Add-On Applications
- Canon's Add-On Application System will enable the installation of paid applications directly onto your CR-N400 camera. These apps can then be run without requiring a computer, simplifying operation and setup.
- The Auto Tracking Application enables the camera to automatically track the speaker or other specified people during commercial presentations, lectures, and other live events. This system uses in-camera visual analysis to produce excellent tracking capability. In addition to framing your subject, the CR-N400 camera, aided by its high-performance pan/tilt mechanism and the auto tracking application, smoothly captures people's movements with satisfying quality.
- The Auto Loop Application empowers the camera to automatically repeat pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) movements ordinarily performed by camera operators during event broadcasts, TV commercials, and movie productions. The “fade mode” adjusts the acceleration and deceleration of the camera motions as the motions begin and end, enabling the automated camera system to mimic professional camera operating.
Built-In Auto Tracking Lite
A free version of Auto Tracking Lite is built into the CR-N400, providing smooth and precise auto tracking in a basic configuration with the option to quickly and easily upgrade to the paid version for more advanced, customized auto tracking.
NDI HX2 and SRT Open Source
The CR-N400's multiple protocols include adaptive bitrate SRT and NDI HX2 choices that help produce high-quality video streams for broadcasters. RTMP/RTMPS, RTP/RTSP, and Canon XC protocols are also included, as well as FreeD with support for up to four destinations for virtual production integration.
Webcam via USB Connection
The CR-N400 supports UVC (USB Video Class) in addition to IP, SDI, and HDMI. This enables the camera to be used as a webcam by connecting it via the USB-C port to a PC with a web conferencing application installed. The CR-N400 delivers up to 1080p60 video for high-quality web conferencing.
Remote Camera Control Application
The free RCCA (Remote Camera Control Application) software controller application lets you take control of up to 20 PTZ and professional video cameras over IP. Preview up to nine cameras on screen and adjust focus, pan, zoom, tilt, and exposure in real time, directly from your computer.
Multi-Camera Management Application
The MCMA (Multi-Camera Management Application) lets you monitor and manage up to 200 cameras directly from your PC and perform key tasks lie multiview monitoring, device backup, assignment, and registration as well as update the firmware of linked cameras simultaneously.
Camera Color Matching Application
With the ability to color match the CR-N400 PTZ camera to your primary production camera, the Camera Color Matching application lets you easily add PTZ cameras to your existing camera environment. This application supports any Canon or third-party cameras that supports 1080p HD or UHD 4K.
Webcam Driver
Use Canon's Webcam Driver to turn the CR-N400 into a super webcam. The Webcam Driver is a virtual USB driver that enables the CR-N400 to be used as a powerful webcam over a network.

Canon RC-IP300 PTZ Camera Controller
Compact, Advanced PTZ Controller
The RC-IP300 PTZ Camera Controller provides quick, tactile IP control for up to 200 supported Canon PTZ cameras. This compact controller features a 3.5" touchscreen display offering OSD menus for compatible cameras, camera configurations, live views, and touch autofocus. Power the RC-IP300 via PoE (power over Ethernet) or the included power supply.
3.5" Touchscreen Panel
- The 3.5" touchscreen at the center of the RC-IP300 controller provides operations menus, live feeds for up to nine cameras per page, and multiview displays in both 2x2 and 3x3 layouts.
- Designed for easy multicamera control, the RC-IP30 supports Canon's auto-tracking, autofocus, auto loop, and crop control for supported cameras.
- Indexed, single-page menu tabs let users easily navigate the system.
