    VariZoom VZ-PG-L Reviews

VZPGL Compact LANC Zoom Controller is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great but needs better components. I have used this controller for almost a year with a Canon XH-A1.It gets regular use as I do a lot of conference and event work. Recently the rocker switch has become unresponsive when moved in one direction. I suspect a lesser quality rocker switch was used in it's construction and repeated use has worn it out. I will attempt to locate a replacement part from Varizoom. Zoom speed is controlled via a knob so the switch is a on-off-on style rocker.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good zoom controller for the price I like this zoom controller, but in a live situation, I often favor the on-camera zoom controller over this one because I think it has better control. This zoom controller does have a speed adjustment that gives very fine-tuned adjustments, so make sure you set your speed and test it out before starting to shoot. Zooming can be a little jarring at the beginning, but once it's going, it's very smooth. Overall, I'd recommend this product if you're looking for an affordable, handheld zoom controller.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Product durable build!! This unit feels solid, there is no mistaking the precision this unit has.. an easy choice if needing a LANC remote for you camera. The controls will take some getting used to if you are already using a different LANC type of system.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great zoom control I use this controller both on the pan handle of the tripod and rigged to a double handle hand held rig for an XL-1. It mounts quickly and easily!

    question

Will this work with a Panasonic HC-X1000?
    Asked by: Michael Y.
This controller is for Sony and Canon LANC compatible cameras. It will not work with the HC-X1000, however we do have some Panasonic compatible controllers that will work. B&H # VAVZPROPZFI is the Panasonic version of this controller and is a good fit for the HC-X1000.

Will this work with a Sony PXW-Z280?
    Asked by: Jorge
Yes it should. The PXW-Z280 has a LANC input for a controller, which is the kind of connection this product has. They should work well together.

Bought a new Canon XF-705. Will this function well with this? Any ideas for other controllers? We tried the Manfrotto arm controller and an older Canon and all were wonky and not reliable with it. Thanks!

    question

    Is this controller ambidextrous?
    Asked by: Brian S.
As my father was a south-paw, I understand your concern. While we have not tested it, we would say that you should have no real issues using this on the left pan handle. The record button may be a bit of a stretch for your left thumb but other than that, you should be fine.
