Its standout feature is the proprietary 24+5-bit segmented R2R PRO resistor-ladder DAC, which delivers a warmer, more natural analog-like sound, rather than the ultraclean, clinical presentation typical of that format.

Additionally, the K17 R2R packs a fully discrete Class-AB headphone amplifier capable of up to 4000mW per channel in balanced mode, enough headroom for hard-to-drive planar magnetic and high-impedance headphones. Connections are fully balanced throughout, with XLR, 4.4mm, and 6.35mm outputs, plus USB, coaxial, optical, Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet connectivity. And it includes a 31-band lossless parametric EQ with Auto EQ support, a 3.93" touchscreen, and NOS/OS switchable listening modes. It ships with an aluminum alloy infrared remote, and the unit itself is finished with genuine wood side panels for a more premium desktop aesthetic.

R2R DAC Architecture
The K17 R2R uses FiiO's proprietary resistor-ladder DAC, with thermometer-coded decoding, on the top five bits to reduce typical ladder-DAC errors. The result is a warmer, more natural, harmonically rich sound—a tonal alternative to the ultraclean delta-sigma presentation, not a strict upgrade. Amplifier power comes from a fully discrete Class-AB amp with premium ON Semiconductor transistors, which deliver up to 4000mW per channel balanced—nearly double FiiO's K9 Pro ESS. That's enough headroom to drive demanding planar magnetic and high-impedance headphones while staying clean for sensitive IEMs.

Streaming and Connectivity
The K17 R2R features Roon Ready, AirPlay, QPlay, and NAS playback, plus Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet. Turn the K17 R2R into a full network audio hub rather than just a USB DAC. The Roon integration is especially deep, with remote-based playback control and network-wide analog volume control.
Parametric EQ
A 31-band lossless PEQ with Auto EQ support, controllable via touchscreen, the FiiO Control app, or a browser, with presets savable to the unit.
