The Saramonic SG-MS1 is an ultracompact, lightweight mid-side stereo shotgun microphone designed for film, television, nature, music, environmental, and sound effects recording. Its cardioid and figure-8 capsules work together to produce a realistic stereo image with adjustable width. Suitable for boompole and on-camera use, the SG-MS1 weighs just 3.17 oz and measures 6.9 inches long, making it easy to manage during long shoots and compact enough to avoid interfering with short camera lenses.
Comprehensive Output Connectivity
A 5-pin XLR output and included dual 3-pin XLR cable connect the microphone to professional cameras, mixers, and recorders, allowing stereo width to be adjusted in real time or during postproduction. The SG-MS1 also provides a USB-C digital output for smartphones and tablets and a 3.5mm output for cameras and portable recorders. When recording to a mobile device through USB-C, the 3.5mm jack doubles as a headphone output for real-time monitoring. Stereo width can also be adjusted using the Saramonic System app.
Three Flexible Recording Modes
The three-mode audio control dial adapts the SG-MS1 to different recording situations. Raw M-S captures unprocessed audio from both capsules for maximum flexibility when mixing stereo fields, ambience, music, and sound effects. M/S Mono separates the capsules across the two XLR outputs, with the M-XLR carrying the cardioid capsule for dialogue and directional recording and the S-XLR carrying the figure-8 capsule for two-person interviews. Decoded L/R converts the Mid-Side signal into standard left and right stereo channels in real time for immediate stereo recording.
Universal Mounting and Complete Kit
The included shockmount uses Rycote Lyre microphone mounts and offers a cold-shoe mount plus 5/8", 3/8", and 1/4"-20 thread options for mounting on cameras, boom poles, pistol grips, and microphone stands. The kit also includes foam and high-wind furry windscreens, a 5-pin XLR to dual 3-pin XLR cable, USB-C charging and output cable, USB-C to Lightning output cable, 3.5mm TRS output cable, 3.5mm TRRS output cable, stand-mount adapters, and a custom hard case.
