EastWest DrumX Virtual Groove Machine Instrument

Developed in collaboration with legendary producer and songwriter Jimmy Jam, the DrumX Virtual Groove Machine from EastWest delivers a fresh approach to drum programming built around one essential element: groove. Combining Jimmy Jam’s iconic rhythmic sensibility with EastWest’s acclaimed sound design expertise, DrumX provides producers with a powerful collection of classic drum machine sounds, exclusive grooves, and deep sound-shaping tools designed to inspire new musical ideas. This virtual instrument runs on the included Opus engine and is compatible with Mac and Windows machines via the VST 2/3, AU, and AAX platforms. It can be used as a standalone instrument or as a plug-in within your preferred DAW.

Ten Legendary Drum Machines in One Instrument
DrumX brings together ten of the most influential drum machines ever created, including the TR-808, TR-909, TR-606, LinnDrum, LM-1, DR-55, DR-110, DMX, DrumTraks, and SP-12. Each machine has been meticulously sampled with multiple tape saturation options, room microphone captures, round-robin variations, and machine-specific parameter controls where applicable. From the deep analog punch of the 808, to the digital snap of the LinnDrum, to the iconic textures of the SP-12, DrumX places decades of drum machine history at your fingertips.
Deep Sound Design and Performance Controls
The DrumX interface centers around a 16-pad layout paired with a powerful step sequencer for detailed rhythm programming and performance. Per-pad editing allows precise control over individual sounds, while the Pad Inspector provides access to machine-specific parameters and advanced sound-shaping tools. Additional creative options include tape saturation processing, professional-grade master effects, and extensive control over the character and behavior of each drum machine sound.
Hundreds of Exclusive Jimmy Jam Grooves
DrumX Volume 1 includes hundreds of grooves programmed and curated by Jimmy Jam, whose groundbreaking drum programming helped define the sound of more than 42 Billboard #1 hits. Drawing from four decades of experience creating records with artists such as Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Boyz II Men, Usher, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, and many others, these grooves provide ready-made inspiration across Dance Industrial, R&B Funk, Pop, Hip Hop, and Ballad styles.
Extensive Kits, Layers, and Hybrid Sound Creation
At the core of DrumX is a large collection of Jimmy Jam Kits that combine sounds from the ten classic drum machines with signature grooves. DX All Kits provide access to every available drum machine sound for custom kit building, while DX Pitched instruments allow individual drums to be played chromatically across the pads. DX Stacks layer kicks, snares, and hi-hats from multiple machines to create powerful hybrid sounds; and DX Layers make it easy to switch between machine variations for additional texture and movement.
Exclusive Samples and Modern Production Tools
In addition to its classic drum machine collection, DrumX includes a curated selection of exclusive custom samples handpicked by Jimmy Jam specifically for the instrument. Combined with the built-in Groove Engine, professional effects chain, and advanced sequencing capabilities, DrumX provides a comprehensive production environment for creating grooves that feel authentic, musical, and inspiring.
EastWest Forbidden Planet Hybrid Synth Plug-In (Download)

Journey to the outer reaches of the sonic universe with EastWest Forbidden Planet, a hybrid-synth plug-in that offers a vast collection of cinematic and heavy-hitting synths with futuristic sounds, perfect for soundtracks, EDM, hip hop, and more. Forbidden Planet features a premier collection of sampled analog synthesizers (both modern and vintage), acoustic instruments from rock, orchestral, choir, to world-music genres, plus other sound-design elements. Freely morph between electronic- and acoustic-instrument layers, or choose from 650 curated instruments that are playable out of the box—including Bass, Drones, FX, Leads, Pads, and Poly Synths.

Featuring an impressive suite of postprocessing and mixing tools, advanced filter modulation, dual arpeggiator, and an extensive rack of effects, all powered by the critically acclaimed OPUS engine. Forbidden Planet gives you a deep level of sound-manipulation possibilities for unprecedented sonic-shaping power with presets that you can customize.

Hybrid Synth Armageddon
Crossfade between sound sources and filter settings with the central XY pad to capture morphing hybrid sounds in moments. By moving the Orbital Control, you can dynamically capture broad but smooth shifts in both timbre and frequency content. Moving left and right changes the blend amount between two contrasting sources—from analog, acoustic, synthetic, and large-scale cinematic sounds. The vertical position controls filter frequency and is perfect for creating sweeping gestures however you see fit.
Advanced Filter Modulation
The XY Pad isn't the only way to control the filter. Simply pull up the filter section of the UI and you can pop open the hood, controlling the modulation depth. The Mod Envelope allows you to add an ADSR-style envelope onto the filter cutoff, automating its movement with each note, while the Step LFO section produces a gated rhythm as the sequencer modulates the filter cutoff frequency. This leaves you free to play with the XY Pad, creating progressive textures and drones to set the tone of the atmosphere you want to build.
Dual Arpeggiator
The dual-arpeggiator structure allows for any rhythmic combinations you like across both layers. You can create polyrhythms, sync rhythms together, or even choose one layer to sustain while the other sets a rhythmic foundation. Create staccato and legato patterns with portamento and glide as you like. Not only does this make it easy to create highly dynamic and choppy ostinatos, but each of the two sound sources gets its own sequencer with the option to desynchronize their speeds. The two are adjacent to each other in the UI, giving you unprecedented automation capabilities without digging through multiple different submenus. Copy settings between both and you can produce slight variations that support more depth, creativity, and shimmer than you'll find anywhere else.
Bass Sounds
Forbidden Planet's basses are layered with FX pedal tones, contrasting crossfades, and gritty overtones, perfect for tackling the most ambitious soundtracks.
Drone Sounds
Forbidden Planet's mechanical, organic, and environmental drones can be used to create any atmosphere you choose. This is where the XY Pad shines, producing original and morphing ambiences in real time, so you can set the stage however you choose.
FX Sounds
Forbidden Planet offers a collection of effects that defy classification, obtained from voices, acoustic instruments and a variety of synthesized sources—ideal for adding tension, noise, and chilling one-shots to accent your soundscape.
Lead Sounds
Forbidden Planet gives you a tool for creating organic, adaptive leads that pop in the mix. Spend less time designing leads and arrive at the perfect lead instantly.
Pad Sounds
Use the XP pad to shape warm, ambient, or gritty pads, and effortlessly morph between cinematic textures to create a solid backing of chords or build a dramatic soundscape.
Poly Synth Sounds
This collection of presets doesn't fit neatly into any one category—it's perfect for experimentation and bridging different styles. These are your go-to presets when you want to be surprised while still having fine control over the overall sound.
EastWest Iconic Synth Collection

This EastWest Iconic Synth Collection Features 138GB of samples from six different classic synthesizers. With a user interface designed around an XY pad with four Macro effects with multiple parameters that can be simultaneously adjusted. Blending a vintage knob-per-function design, adjustments are quick and easy, as all controls are accessible from a single page, so you don't have to flip through pages to tweak your settings. An advanced 16-step arpeggiator, multimode portamento (glide), and a bevy of effects allow you to widen, pulse, distort, delay, and spatialize the final sound.

Supporting VST 2, VST 3, AU, and AAX plug-in protocols, so it works with most standard DAWs. The software requires Opus 1.5.4 to run on Windows 10 or macOS 10.15 and later.

EastWest String Machine Virtual Instrument Plug-In (Download)

Add a slice of vintage flavor to your productions with the EastWest String Machine, a virtual instrument plug-in that's inspired by vintage string machines such as the Arp Solina, Oberheim OBX, Roland RS-505, and Roland Jupiter 6. String Machine also features the classic ensemble chorus found on most vintage string synthesizers. The included ensemble chorus features three modes, each with distinctive characteristics.

The user interface is designed to emulate a classic string machine, adorned with tons of switches and sliders. The instrument is broken into four color-coded sections including string machines and pads (red), section strings (green), solo woodwinds and brass (teal), and choirs and soloist (orange). The software utilizes a dedicated Opus playback engine, which provides a searchable browser and the ability for users to customize their sounds. It is compatible with Mac and Windows. It runs as standalone software or operates in AU, VS2, VST3, or AAX formats.

Back to the Retro Future
Paying homage to the great vintage string synthesizers of the '60s, '70s, and '80s, EastWest's String Machine virtual instrument brings the past into the future. Produced by sound titans Doug Rogers and Nick Phoenix, String Machine includes samples from some of the greats—Arp Solina, Oberheim OBX, Roland RS-505, and Roland Jupiter 6—and allows you to instantly combine them with modern strings, brass, woodwinds, and vocals to create unique vintage vibes perfect for your next pop, rock, or hip-hop masterpiece.
Inspired User Interface
String Machine's user interface takes inspiration from the design of vintage string machine synthesizers. From the chunky instrument switches adorned along the front panel, to the glide of envelope sliders, and the click of push buttons, String Machine's form and function is informed by the original hardware units.
Ensemble Chorus Effect
String Machines were well known for their ensemble chorus effects, and the one included in String Machine features 3 modes, each with distinct characteristics. With effect emulations modeled from the Arp Solina, and Roland VP-330 hardware units, along with a Modern mode, our Ensemble Chorus effect delivers everything from vintage warmth and thickness, to modern transparency and dimension.
Flexible Application
String Machine's use is flexible, owing to its hybrid design of electronic and acoustic instruments. It fits right at home in a variety of genres, electronic or otherwise, but especially suitable for genres heavy on retro nostalgia, like chillwave or pop. Any piece of music that needs a large ensemble string pad would benefit by using String Machine.
Instrument Groups
String Machine features 4 color-coded instrument sections, including string machines and pads (red), string sections (green), solo woodwinds and brass (teal), and choirs and solo vocals (orange). Each instrument section features a number of instruments and alternatives, giving you countless ways to combine them into a diverse range of timbres, and the ease of mixing the individual instrument sections together to create rich multilayered pads.
Presets
String Machine comes with 17 presets programmed by Nick Phoenix. These presets demonstrate the type of sounds possible with String Machine, but you are encouraged to use String Machine as it was intended—for creating your own presets.
Powered by the Opus Player
Opus is the advanced player engine that powers the String Machine library. Fast and flexible, it comes with incredible features such as individual instrument auditioning and downloads, customized key switches, dozens of new MIDI tools and mixer effects, scalable retina GUI upgrades for legacy products, a powerful script language, and many more options that allow you to completely customize the sound of each instrument.

EastWest Spaces II - Convolution Reverb Plug-In (Download)

EastWest Spaces II is a 24-bit, true stereo convolution reverb plug-in. It comes with 1020 reverbs recorded in spectacular locations worldwide from stunning concert venues: from Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City, Reynolds Hall in Las Vegas, and the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco, to exquisite-sounding churches like St. Patrick's and St. Dominic's, to unique and extraordinary sounding locations like catacombs and Union Station in Los Angeles, and many more. Also included is a collection of 372 instrument-specific reverbs plus all the reverbs from Space I. Space II's high-resolution, convolution engine delivers realistic spaces at a very low CPU load, allowing engineers and sound designers to place their instruments in the precise acoustic environments of their choice.

Producers Doug Rogers and Nick Phoenix employed the best gear from Fairchild, Manley, Meitner, Neumann, Neve, Sennheiser, Sony, Telefunken, and TG to meticulously capture the impulse response library. ATC monitors were used in each space to emulate the real-world sound projection properties of various instruments. Most impulses are in 8-channel format, so surround mixes can be created.

The instrument-specific reverbs are designed to take the guesswork out of instrument reverb selection. Recorded in six locations, they were captured in the exact position an instrument would be on stage to closely emulate the sound-projection patterns of the instrument. You can create a mixing template with unique reverb settings for the strings, brass, winds, percussion, and choir and hear the instruments as they would sound playing together in the same space.
