Available for download, EastWest's Stormdrum 3 is a virtual instrument comprising a sampled library of rare drum sounds, all of them selected from the private collections of Mickey Hart and Remo Belli. The samples were played by Mickey Hart, Greg Ellis, and Chalo Eduardo at EASTWEST Studio 1 and produced by Nick Phoenix. The virtual instrument can operate in both standalone mode and as a plug-in within a host digital audio workstation.
The user interface for the virtual instrument features a browser for selecting samples, a filter with frequency and resonance controls, and an envelope with attack, hold, decay, sustain, and release controls. Also included within the user interface is a virtual keyboard, as well as controls for drum-tuning, pre-delay, delay time, delay feedback and delay level.

Producers Doug Rogers and Nick Phoenix employed the best gear from Fairchild, Manley, Meitner, Neumann, Neve, Sennheiser, Sony, Telefunken, and TG to meticulously capture the impulse response library. ATC monitors were used in each space to emulate the real-world sound projection properties of various instruments. Most impulses are in 8-channel format, so surround mixes can be created.
The instrument-specific reverbs are designed to take the guesswork out of instrument reverb selection. Recorded in six locations, they were captured in the exact position an instrument would be on stage to closely emulate the sound-projection patterns of the instrument. You can create a mixing template with unique reverb settings for the strings, brass, winds, percussion, and choir and hear the instruments as they would sound playing together in the same space.

Performed in a variety of styles such as Pop, Soul, and Gospel, this collection offers composers and producers over 220 WordBuilder-editable phrases and words sung using vowels and consonants and captured with realistic true legato transitions. It's well-suited for bringing the expressiveness of rich solo lines and background vocal harmonies to your music, film, TV, or game productions.
Singers recorded for this library performed with the biggest names in the industry. Durga McBroom and Lorelei McBroom toured with Pink Floyd as backup singers for many years. C.C. White has worked with many iconic artists. She is also the star vocalist of EastWest's Voices of Soul.
Hollywood Backup Singers was produced by Doug Rogers and Nick Phoenix. It gives you over 9GB of content, with 87 vocal instruments and 588 expressive solo phrases in total. Samples are triggered and played through the accompanying Opus software, a playback engine, which provides a searchable browser and the ability for users to customize their sounds. This software is compatible with Mac and Windows platforms, and operates in AU, AAX, and VST formats. It is also NKS-ready and runs as standalone software.
- Vowels includes regular and expressive vowel instruments and sustain expressive vowel instruments, which combine two vowel types. The expressive vowels also have LES versions, which contain additional samples of the vocals recorded through a Leslie speaker cabinet, something Pink Floyd did on many backing vocal tracks. If you need the sound of an opera singer within your DAW, Voices of Opera by EastWest is a downloadable virtual instrument that could very well pique your interest. This library is designed for composers and sound designers, and it complements other entries in EastWest's catalo such as Hollywood Choirs and Voices of the Empire. Recorded under the direction of experienced producers Doug Rogers and Nick Phoenix, Voices of Opera gives you impeccably recorded opera singers performing sustained notes, staccato syllables, as well as whole words and phrases. You have your choices of held vowels (ah, ee, eh, oh, oo) and short, single syllables (don, ci, na, ra, te, and others).
The singers sampled for this virtual instrument have established, lauded careers. They include Larisa Martinez, who has performed with Andrea Bocelli at the Hollywood Bowl, and Carlton Moe, who has been featured in Phantom of the Opera on Broadway and has sung tenor parts in Roméo et Juliette, and Beethoven's 9th Symphony (which has a wonderful solo for tenors).
Voices of Opera gives you over 40GB of content, with 229 multisampled vocal instruments in total. Samples are triggered and played through the accompanying Opus software, a playback engine, which provides a searchable browser and the ability for users to customize their sounds.
- Sustain: 10 vocal instruments for both soprano and tenor consisting of single syllable vowels (ah, ee, eh, oh, oo).
- Staccato: 32 vocal instruments with a variety of short, single syllables.

- Legato: 4 vocal instruments that playback true legato intervals up to an octave in either direction when playing in a legato fashion (connected notes) and a sustain sample layer when playing in a non-legato fashion (separation between notes). Ah legato and oh legato for both soprano and tenor.
- Combo: 8 vocal instruments that combine multiple articulations into a single instrument, and use either the mod wheel or round robin programming techniques to determine how each play back. These include Sustain MOD, Legato MOD, and Staccato Combo RR.
- Words: 42 vocal instruments with performances of specific Italian words mapped chromatically across the keyboard. For both soprano and tenor, these include: addio, amore, bravissimo, cara, caro, cielo, dolore, donna, ella, fiore, fortuna, torza, gloria, insieme, mai, morte, nobilta, potere, sacro, signore, vincero.
- Phrases: 36 full phrases and 84 sub-phrases from popular opera arias from the works of Verdi, Puccini, Mozart, Rossini, Bizet and more. There are 43 phrases and sub-phrases for soprano, 40 phrases and sub-phrases for tenor, and 37 duet phrases and sub-phrases. Phrases were recorded in multiple keys. Sub-phrases, which are separate parts that make up a full phrase, can be switched using the mod wheel.
- Keyswitch: 9 instruments that combine multiple articulations into a single instrument. Use keyswitches to activate the desired articulation.
