Univer al Audio Volt 2 Max Overview

Give your content and music the sound of a professional studio with the Universal Audio Volt 2 Max, a 10x4 USB-C audio interface offering two Tone Shaping Preamps for 60 dB of clean gain and selection between three preamp character types. Combined with Max dynamics processing and robust 32-bit / 192 kHz conversion, this interface provides users with crisp, pro-quality audio and intuitive operation.

The Volt 2 Max sports separate inputs for mic/line signals and instrument signals via two 1/4" front-panel Hi-Z jacks and two rear-panel XLR-1/4" combo jacks. The interface also features two headphone outputs, 3.5mm TRS MIDI I/O, and two monitor outputs. Further connections include an optical TOSLINK ADAT/S/PDIF port and three USB-C ports for power, host connection, and external devices. The Volt 2 Max is mobile ready, with full support for USB bus power and iOS. The Volt 2 Max offers loopback functionality, making it easy to bring in an external guest during podcasts and streaming. A bright full-color smart display lets you keep an eye on your levels at a glance, and Auto-Gain and Clip Protection functions keep your tracks pristine and distortion free. This interface is built for hassle-free UAD Console and LUNA DAW compatibility and includes a bundle of plug-ins and software for immediate audio production right out of the box.

Studio Sound at the Push of a Button
Home recordings and phone demos can sound thin and lifeless. Volt gives your recordings incredible tone right from the start. With three mic preamp modes—Warmth, Focus, and Shine—you can quickly add tube, solid state, and British Class-A tone to everything you record.
Add Punch with Max Processing
Volt Max lets you punch up your vocals, guitars, bass, and other sources as you track, thanks to Max dynamics processing. With six push-button presets ranging from Rap Vocals to Jangly Acoustic, you'll get big, radio-ready sounds based venerable 1176 and LA-2A studio compressors. Combined with its three preamp modes, it puts 18 inspiring sonic possibilities right at your fingertips.
Hear Every Detail with Best-in-Class 32-Bit Converters
When you capture that perfect take, Volt's 32-bit / 192 kHz converters preserve every detail, exactly as they happen. And with loud, clear speaker and headphone outputs, you'll get the perfect monitoring levels from your first take to your final mix.
Start Small, Expand When You're Ready
With Volt Max, your audio interface never becomes a bottleneck. Use its dual-mic and Hi-Z instrument inputs to record multiple vocalists and instruments at the same time. Tap into clean 48V phantom power for your fancy studio condenser mics. Connect your controllers and synths over MIDI. And with ADAT, you can add eight more digital inputs, should the need arise.
See the Big Picture with Smart Display
Volt Max's full-color Smart Display shows your inputs, levels, and settings in detail; so you spend less time setting up and more time creating.
Get the Perfect Levels with Auto-Gain
Nothing's worse than a great take wrecked by digital distortion. Volt's Auto-Gain sets your recording levels in seconds, and Clip Protection catches unexpected peaks.; so you can focus on the performance instead of the meters.
Turn Anywhere into a Studio
Volt 2 Max is bus powered. That means you don't need a power outlet or external power supply to make music. You don't even need a studio space—just plug Volt into your computer, tablet, or phone, pull up a session, and get to work.
Start Making Music in Minutes
When you're inspired, every second counts. Thankfully, Volt Max is ready, willing, and USB class-compliant on Mac, Windows, iPad, and iPhone. There are no downloads or drivers; and it works with any DAW; so you can be up and recording in minutes.
Shape Your Songs with UAD Plug-Ins and LUNA
Every Volt includes over 15 UAD plug-ins and instruments, the same software used to create and mix countless hit records for decades. Plus you get LUNA, UA's award-winning DAW with authentic big studio sound and smart tools designed to make recording easy.
Ideal for Podcasts and Livestreams
Volt Max's Loopback feature allows you to blend live sources with computer audio; so you can mix podcasts and livestreams in real time. Or just level up your video calls. It's the same way pro broadcasters work, built into every Volt.
