With an aluminum-milled and rear OFC chassis, flagship-grade components and advanced processing technology, the NW-ZX900 Walkman Digital Audio Player from Sony delivers audiophile-grade sound you can take with you. It gives you multiple ways to enjoy your music, such as Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) streaming, digital files, or directly from your PC via USB-C. Digital tracks can be saved on the 64GB of built-in memory, or an optional microSD. Listen to music with exquisite detail and a wide soundstage with support for 11.2 MHz/1-bit DSD and 384 kHz/32-bit PCM. Browse through apps and files on a 1080p 5" touchscreen, and listen through either the stereo mini or balanced headphone jacks.
S-Master HX
A digital amp that supports Native DSD as well as balanced and high power playback. It can also respond quickly to sudden changes in sound to improve D/A conversion by using look-ahead noise shaping. You can select one of three look-ahead types for energetic bass and clear, fast sound.
DSD Remastering Engine
Whether streaming over Wi-Fi or playing downloaded tracks, this engine can deliver an analog-inspired presentation by resampling PCM audio into a 11.2 MHz/1-bit DSD stream.
Edge-AI DSEE Ultimate
When playing compressed and CD-quality tracks, this technology works to restore detail and dynamic range for a more complete listening experience.
High-Resolution Audio
Enjoy exceptional audio quality with support for 11.2 MHz DSD and 384 kHz/32-bit PCM, delivering detail that's closer to the original source. High-resolution audio-quality sound is also possible when streaming with support for aptX Adaptive and LDAC, which holds three times more data than standard Bluetooth.
Additional Audio Processing
- Vinyl processor: gives the warmth and character of vinyl into digital tracks.
- DC phase linearizer: applies digital signal processing to match the phase characteristics of various analog amplifiers. Pick from six different types to dial in a purer, more analog-like sound.
- Sony 360 Reality Audio: with supported audio sources, you can experience a truly immersive soundscape that's designed to make you feel like you're in the middle of a live concert, or with the artist in the studio.
Power Architecture
When providing power to different sections of the Walkman, high-end components have been incorporated to ensure to ensure both stable power delivery and isolation of noise and interference with audio playback. p>
- Dual large solid high-polymer capacitors: provides the power reserves needed to respond to sudden changes in power demand. Capacitors are also assigned to digital and analog sections, absorbing circuitry noise to minimize the impact on your audio.
- Ultralow-noise LDO regulator: provides the high-current power the S-Master HX amp need, while eliminating switching noise and interference.
- Hand-soldered OFC wiring: this helps to ensure a cleaner power path and minimize circuit board noise, delivering audio with power, delicacy, and a wide soundstage.
- Custom FT CAP3: used for all bypass capacitors for the audio block power supply, they help to create a smoother sound with more transparency and tighter bass.
- High polymer capacitors: these strengthen the power supply of the amp block for unbalanced output, enhancing low-range reproduction for an expansive sound.
- Film capacitors: delivering voltage with a linear response across frequencies, distortion and noise are reduced.
- Winding inductors: the power supply for the digital section replaces conventional laminated components, helping to preserve a pure and natural sound.
Advanced Manufacturing
With this Walkman release, Sony have reimagined and optimized the parts they use and how they're laid out, all in order to improve overall sound quality. p>
- OFC large coil: a large, high-purity 4N copper coil is used as the L-C filter to lower distortion and resistance, achieving a balanced output signal from the digital amp and sound that feels clearer and more detailed. OFC_CABLE_BULLET
- Crystal oscillators: two low-phase-noise crystal oscillators help to ensure precision clock stability at sampling rate multiples of 44.1 and 48 kHz, for clear, open sound reproduction.
- Fine sound resistor: surface-mounted, the resistor evenly distributes power for consistent and finely controlled sound.
- Gold solder: reflow solder and audio-grade lead-free solder, both containing gold, are used to take advantage of the exceptional conductivity, minimizing signal loss, improving sound localization, and creating a wider sound space.
- Low dielectric circuit board: ten layers of low dielectric material are used for accurate signal transmission, along with copper-filled via holes for reduced impedance.
- Optimized layout: dividing the audio block and power/digital block helps to ensure optimum sound quality without digital interference.
