Meade 07361 Overview

Ultratelephoto photography is easily achieved with your telescope by purchasing this SLR camera adapter. You'll need to take precautions to minimize vibrations, such as locking up the mirror if possible as well as using a cable release or remote control to fire the shutter.

First, remove the eyepiece. Next, attach the SLR camera adapter where the eyepiece would normally be attached to the telescope, and screw in a t-mount adapter to the opposite end of the SLR camera adapter. Now you can attach your camera to the t-mount and you are ready to begin taking pictures!

Note:
Your camera will need to be in fully manual exposure mode, although some brands of camera may also work in aperture-priority autoexposure mode. Additionally, if there is a switch on the camera which chooses the focus mode, that switch must indicate manual focusing.

question

I have a Meade Polaris 130 Telescope and a Nikon D80 Camera. Will this work with a Meade T-Mount? Or should I reduce the focal length by getting a Celestron Adapter instead?
Asked by: Alexander L.
Yes it is compatible with your scope. You would just need a T-mount adapter for Nikon such as this: https://bhpho.to/2BLOYri

question

What is the difference between this and https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1303841-REG/meade_7348_variable_projection_tele_extender.html ? I'm having a hard time figuring out all the different pieces I need to connect a Canon 6D to a Meade LX200.
Asked by: Daren W.
The Meade Variable Projection Tele-Extender for LX Telescopes, is specifically created for use on the series of Meade LX telescopes, and allows for different focal ratios when using eyepiece-projection photography techniques. The Meade Variable Projection SLR (35mm OR Digital) Camera Adapter, is a more universal adapter, that will work with all telescopes that have a 1.25" eyepiece mount.

question

How/where do you insert the eyepiece so that it's secure and doesn't wobble about? No instructions were included. Thanks.
Asked by: James M.
I remove the rubber eye cup on the eyepiece, then insert it into the adapter. Carefully insert your finger into the bottom of the adapter to seat the eyepiece before cinching it down with the set screw

question

I have literally been trying to figure this out for months. I purchased one of these for my meade and nikon 3100. Everything connects correctly but I can not focus on anything. The meade 1.25 variable projection camera adapter 7361 is just a hollow tube with no optics right? Is there glass in the adapter? Please help, I seem to be missing something...
Asked by: Elias
There are no optics in the adapter. All of your focusing needs to be done through the Meade. I have a Canon and for focusing I set up the camera to display through the LCD screen or directly to a computer so I have a bigger screen to focus with. I think the Nikon has similar set ups for focusing> I suggest you focus all of the way out of in with the Meade and start to work out from there. Hope this is what you need.

question

Is this primary focus only, or can you use a lens in the adapter?
Asked by: michael b.
This allows you to attached your camera body to your Meade telescope. I have a LX200 series telescope. You can grossly focus by sliding the assembly in and out and then lock it down with the thumb screws. You then focus with your telescope. You cannot use this as a lens adapter.

question

I have a Nikon D5100 and a t-mount adapter. This should connect to my Celestron C-5, right? Does the outer black tube connected to the t-mount slide over the inner black tube to adjust length of eyepiece to camera?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes this model will work with your C-5 Scope. Yes you are able to adjust the length of the eyepiece as well on your scope with out any issues.
