Ultratelephoto photography is easily achieved with your telescope by purchasing this SLR camera adapter. You'll need to take precautions to minimize vibrations, such as locking up the mirror if possible as well as using a cable release or remote control to fire the shutter.

First, remove the eyepiece. Next, attach the SLR camera adapter where the eyepiece would normally be attached to the telescope, and screw in a t-mount adapter to the opposite end of the SLR camera adapter. Now you can attach your camera to the t-mount and you are ready to begin taking pictures!

Note: Your camera will need to be in fully manual exposure mode, although some brands of camera may also work in aperture-priority autoexposure mode.  Additionally, if there is a switch on the camera which chooses the focus mode, that switch must indicate manual focusing.

Variable Projection SLR (35mm OR Digital) Camera Adapter is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Robust, effective especially with Meade products A bit expensive, but very robust and well made. Works well (and probably only) with other Meade products such as their smaller ocular eyepiece set and their T adapter- all treads fit perfectly. No instructions, so research it on the net. In case of a pinch, might consider just buying the Meade T adapter and their 2x barlow and foregoing this, as one will attach to the other perfectly. (ON this setting the camera behaves as if it were using an f/16 lens.)This set-up gives you greater flexibility in using diverse oculars. Even at its high cost, it is extreme telephoto photography on the cheap.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Never buy this product, you'll have to buy other Meade items The threads of the adapter fit perfectly onto my Celestron 130slt, but Meade specifically made the threads where the t-ring goes too big to fit with other t-ring adapters that are not their own. If you buy this, you have to specifically buy the Meade t-ring otherwise, you'll have to change the t-ring. Do not encourage companies that force you to buy other products of their own. My celestron t-ring fits perfectly onto my telescope, but not on the Meade adapter. Do not buy this item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good piece of equipment Good building materials. It must be use together with a T mount. It can be used with 1.25 fit cylinder or screwed directly in the telescope (if your telescope has this option. The 1.25 objectives can fit perfectly inside the tube. But be carefull, IT TAKE YOU SOME HOURS of practice to achive good focus for your astrophotography. Try to test it with sunshine before use it at night.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful Quality Control The product is useless since the T adapter does not fit. Tried the adapter with something else and it is perfect. It is almost like the Meade T threads are too large!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for Pentax spotting scope B&H sales rep suggested this for digiscoping with my Pentax spotting scope. Another rep had previously suggested a similar adapter but this one is adjustable so I thought it more likely to work. Mechanically it fit the eyepiece and (with adapter) Nikon camera just fine. But it didn't come close to achieving focus. The focal point turns out to be much further from the mount, so digiscoping is impractical without optics in the adapter, which this adapter does not have. I returned it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As advertised Does exactly what it's suppose to do. Unfortunately my SLR is too heavy for those particular telescope. But I'll hang on to this should I upgrade.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible product! This has to be the most frustrating product ever! Spent hours trying to get this to work with my Canon 6D. Nothing to hold the eyepiece steady at all!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality + easy to install If you are into astrophotography this adapter is a must. High-quality construction, easy to install, and the price is very affordable.
