    Avenger A4050CS reviews

    A4050CS 16.4' Steel Boom Stand 50 (Chrome-plated) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boom for big octobox Love this stand. use it as a boom or as a normal heavy duty stand. I use this for hanging a large octobox on a b1600 Alien bee head up to 13' high. I had tried the bogen/manfrotto booms (not the super boom but the smaller one)and they wouldn't go high enough and were just not sturdy enough to safely support that heavy box and head. This stand does it with no problem. It is big and *heavy* and my studio space is not huge but for a light I don't move much it is perfect. I got it with the a900N wheel set easy movement and E700 drop-down pin that give extra room for angling the light source.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mega Boom, on Steroids This boom screams ruggedness, Made in Italy, you will never worry about it holding overhead light securely. It just looks expensive! Amazing how it goes from a 8x8x66 box, to super structure. Mounted a five light, 18 diffusser with 16 clip on barn doors with easy. This boom in your studio will have your customers impressed, great chrome! The adjustable leg just recently allowed me to jump a raised fireplace hearth. You can span 7 feet to the middle of 6+folks across photo, (with counter weight not provided). You might be intimidated but you will not be disapointed, this boom will last forever.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Flawed Design I would not buy this boom stand again. This is a sturdy boom stand. The braking wheels are the best I've used. They hold firm and are easily locked and unlocked. It has only one fault; however, it's a huge flaw in the design. One has to push in the handle to change the boom. And to push it in takes two hands. One to turn the handle and push in, and the other to push in and hold. Without using the second hand, the teeth don't grab effectively. Therefore, I always need an assistant to change the position of boom. I don't understand why the handle was designed to be pushed in. The design would have been flawless, if all one had to do was to turn the handle. Frankly, I am surprised that more people aren't complaining about the difficulty in using this stand. Only one reviewer has mentioned it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from heavy metal everything about this stand is SOLID! there is nothing plastic, or flimsy about this boom stand. i can safely boom an Elinchrom BXRI 500 with a 27 beauty dish, worry free! although its never a good idea to boom something without a counterweight or an anchor, iv tested it without either, and it still wouldn't budge! the knobs on this thing are MANLY! it takes alittle muscle to turn/tighten them. it also takes alittle muscle to lug this thing around on location, but totally worth it when your up against a windy day. overall, i love this thing! its probably my favorite piece of equipment in my studio cuz of its versatility, quality, and beauty. everyone looking for a SOLID boom stand to do it all, this is the one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Purchase made in a long time I just purchased the Avenger Boom Stand after months of debate over how much I should spend on heavy duty stands, I was close to purchasing a set of C-stands, but I knew I really wanted a heavy duty boom. I was shocked by the price of this product, its a chunnk of cash BUT its very reasonable for what you get. Its the sturdiest, most well built peice of gear I own as of now. 300 dollars gets your lighting a good distance in the air, over head, even under sets with the peice of mind that the base its self will keep it planted, then you add a couple sand bags and this thing is a tank with no movement what so ever. The product is heavy, but who cares, when you know its going to hold your thousand dollar equpiment 16 feet in the air and not blow over with a little touch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You need stability? This stand delivers I use this stand for supporting small to medium monolights for edge and back lighting of subjects. I also use it for supporting medium to large soft boxes attached to monolights over food shoots. Before purchasing I read a lot of the other reviews that stated that this stand was solid - those reviews are completely accurate. In fact, this has to be the most sturdily constructed and stable boon stand that I've used to date, and I've been a professional Photographer for over 20 years. It is VERY SOLIDLY CONSTRUCTED and VERY WELL DESIGNED - the plus side is stability, the somewhat down side is it is a VERY HEAVY STAND. If I were to ever need an additional Boom stand, this is the item that I will be reaching for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great investment! I just recently got this product and I am in love with it already. Yes it is heavy to lug around but its worth the weight and money I spent on it. Ive attached a strobe with a beauty dish, a strobe with a 7ft octobox and the boom did not flinch. Of course I have a counter weight on the boom but honestly, this thing is so sturdy, very little weight was needed. Its great for lighting beauty shots, portraits, fashion. Overall its one of the best pieces of equipment Ive bought in a while.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would hate to see I use mine in studio and on location. Great for new perspectives for both lighting and camera angle. It's a beast to move and transport, but I get the assurance that my Parabolic Light Modifier or 6 foot Octabank isn't going to come crashing down on my models. Nothing junior about this thing.. This kid's a C Stand on steroids! But I love every thing about it. Optional casters are a must. I didn't think I'd need 'em until I tried moving this on location for 4 different sets.
