Wimberley's quick release plates for lenses are made of silky-smooth anodized aluminum. They fit all the Arca-type quick release adapters, made by many different companies such as Arca-Swiss, Foba, Graf/Studioball, Gitzo, NPC and of course Wimberley. The plate has drilled holes to accept flash brackets from Wimberley, Kirk & Really Right Stuff.

Note: The following lenses have 3/8" threads, and require a "reducing bushing" (#GBRB) to fit the plate:

Lens Bushing
Canon 500mm f/4 IS x1
Leica Modular 280mm to 560mm x1
Leica Modular 400mm to 800mm x1

Dual Safety Stops

The safety stops at the front & back of the Wimberley P40 plate prohibit your lens from accidentally slipping out of the quick release adapter(easily removed with supplied hex wrench if desired).

Double-Dovetail Cross-Section

The Wimberley double-dovetail design allows attachment of their Shape Shifter flash bracket system to the upper or lower surface of the P40 plate.

Works with All Common Flash Brackets

Drilled holes accept flash arms from Kirk & Really Right Stuff
Combine with two Module 1 Quick Release Arms(B&H item code "WIM1") for a brilliant support base for using your long lens atop a beanbag

Wimberley always knocks it out of the park with these small items. Machined perfectly, AND including every possible accoutrement you could want (tools, screws, etc etc). Flawless.

My first exposure to super telephoto lenses was the 500 F4 version 1. This being a version 2 600 mm F4 the weight is almost identical, sharpness is on par with all Canon L-series lenses - EXCELLENT. Would definitely recommend this lens to anyone considering super telephoto.

Used it on my Nikon 500mm foot. Tested it on WH200 Gimbal. SO far so good. A bit pricy consider its benefit.

I consider this Quick release plate an essential item for mounting and unmounting a telephoto lens on a Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Tripod head. Piece of cake, and fast. 'Be sure to check the Wimberley website to ensure that you buy the correct quick release plate for your specific lens.

Asked by: Prabhu
The P40 or AP608 replacement foot are both recommended for the IS version on the wimberley head. If you are using the Side Kick or Side Mount, then only the AP608 replacement foot is recommended. There is a manual focus version for which only the P50 plate is recommended for all three.
