Speed Ring for Elinchrom is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Try it as soon as you get it I bought this ring to mount my Silverdome nxt on BX-500 Ri head, the ring didn't go all the way to lock on the head. Some careful correction with jewelers' files fixed this in about an hour. It looks like a solid high quality product, it now fits, but requires skills to put it on and off, since the ring rotates on the mount and one needs to rotate the ring mount itself on the head to click it into position, the soft box is heavy and may damage the head if you drop it. Photoflex should revise this product with some locks to stop the ring from spinning to allow for proper locking motion.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Quality Speed Ring The Speed Ring fits perfectly on the stock Elinchrom D2 and D4 strobes without any hassles. I used this Speed ring in combination with my Photoflex Litedome Q39. The metal construction makes the Speed ring more durable and strudy. Only thing about the product once you received it is to tighten or loosen the speed ring with a phillips screw driver to your specification as it is a little lose when you first get it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ehh This speedring works. It's one of the more inexpensive speedrings. And it can be used for strip boxes, regular softboxes, and even octoboxes. However, if you can afford the slight extra cost (50% more expensive) and you aren't needing it for an octobox, then you're better served buying the quick release speedring that Chimera makes. I haven't tried using it with a Photoflex softbox, but it should work fine. You might contact B&H to verify, but the ease of use is unrivaled. For location work, speed can be everything. It certainly can mean how much money you are making per hour. If ease of use is less important than cost, by all means this is a good speedring. I have about 10 of these. Though I wish I could have afforded going Chimera.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not As Smooth As Elinchrom I bought this because I have a couple of Photoflex softboxes I needed it for. It is well made but doesn't install as smoothly as an Elinchrom OEM unit or is as simple to use. I am switching all my Photoflex softboxes to Elinchrom for their ease of use and light quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Valuable option. I initially bought this speedring to replace the one currently in use by my large octogonal softbox. The reason being very simple, i wanted to get the softbox mounted on the stand directly, as opposed to weighting down the flash. This speedring contains 10 holes total, if i counted right, and 2 of them are threaded at least. Using the threaded hole, i can mount it directly on a heavy duty bracket which is on the lightstand. Giving me all the normal flexibility, and just having the flash take no weight other then its own. Invaluable! Especially after 1 flash's mount broke from the weight and a sudden push. The downside ? It recesses most flashes a bit too much, the tunneling is annoying but not particularly bad, a simple fix would of been to flip the speedring mount to allow the flash heads to be further out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Functional Quality This Speed Ring is well built. I'm using it on my Elinchrom lights with a Photoflex Half Dome. There's absolutely nothing 'wrong' with this Speed Ring. That said, like most softboxes getting the rods into it the first time or two will cause you to perspire slightly. Second issue (probably more about the monolight than the ring) is that getting it secured in my Elinchrom's is a bit of an art. There isn't an easy way to get this done unfortunately.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst I have ever used Getting it to lock all the way in is near to impossible. Every time I pick this one up, it ends in frustration - even when mounted it will eventually unlock after a few adjustments, and that happens to both of my lights, a bit better with the Ranger. Not sure how that relates to me only - it has decent reviews after all - but all the other ones I use never give me this issue. A faulty item?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Elinchrom BXRI fitting This ring is durable and the quality is not an issue. It was found that some BXRI units have posed fitting issue for Photoflex and research has indicated that the first run of BXRI heads were made slightly off spec. by Elinchrom. The situation has been rectified and the issue has been solved.
