Is there an advantage of this stand over a normal light stand? What's the difference?
This stand is for use with a background and not a light, it has a clamp on the top to hold a background.

The wind turns it so it doesn't stay straight but the clips hold.

is this compatible with all collapsible background from lastolite?
The Lastolite Bracketed Stand for Collapsible Backgrounds should be compatible with any standard collapsible background that is 7 feet or less in height and which has a standard collapsible metal rim. It would be compatible with any Lastolite background fitting this description, as well as most all other third-party collapsible backgrounds that fit this description.

How many stands are needed to hold one collapsible backdrop - 1 or 2?
1 stand can hold the 5x7 collapsible backdrop. If you are using it outside and the wind catches, makes it more difficult and 2 would work good for that, but I do just fine with 1.

Does the clip hold collapsible background by Impact?
I don't own a impact collapsible background, but I have a couple of different backgrounds from other manufacturers as well as reflectors and it works well with all of them.I hope this helped.
