Hoya S-52PORTRAIT overview

  • 1Description

This 52 mm Portrait Glass Filter from Hoya is designed to enhance pink colors by reducing the yellow and orange colors and making neutral skin tones much more vivid. Combine with a UV filter when shooting under blue skies.

The portrait filter has a filter factor of 1.15, so you should increase your exposure by 1/5 of a stop to compensate. Light transmission benefits from the filter's single coating on each side of the glass which reduces reflections off the surface of the filter. The ring is made of aluminum adding strength and protection to the lens while is screwed on.

Single coating on both sides of the glass for better light transmission
Enhances pink colors and improves skin tones
Reduces orange and yellow colors
Aluminum ring for durability
Front threads allow filter stacking

    Hoya S-52PORTRAIT reviews

Portrait Glass Filter (52 mm) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must for portrait photographers After buying a UV filter to protect your lenses and a polarizer filter to make the blues in sky and water pop, if you enjoy taking portraits, a portrait filter is a good investment. It beautifully brings out the skin tones of your subjects in a way that futzing with Photoshop just won't do. Hoya's portrait filter is very good quality, and the B&H price is right.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 52 mm Hoya filter I mainly use it for different purpose, which is for reduction of light pollution while taking night sky pictures. It is great for portrait with very good contrast. It is an OK for light pollution, but that is excpected. Since good light pollution filters are several hundred dollars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very natural warm face color I use the filter mostly in baby portraits. It absolutely warms the face color especialy with flash. No cons.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great filter Great filter that does what it's supposed to do. Recommend it to anyone in film or photography. On a 25 mm voigtlander, the images are sharp and higher in contrast than they would be without it.
