Tiffen 52812 overview

  • 1Description

Ideal for portraiture, the 52mm 812 Warming Filter from Tiffen is used to improve skin tones when working in cool lighting conditions. This filter offers a greater warming effect than a skylight 1-A filter and is well-suited for use outdoors on overcast days or on sunny days when working in open shade. It can also be used to absorb the strong blue cast of an electronic flash for more balanced, lifelike skin tones.

The filter is constructed using Tiffen's ColorCore technology, which involves lamenting the filter material between two pieces of optical glass, grounding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and mounting within an aluminum alloy ring.

Warming filter improves skin tones when working outdoors during overcast conditions or in open shade on a sunny day.
Absorbs blue cast caused by electronic flash for more lifelike results.
ColorCore technology, which permanently laminates the filter material between two pieces of optical glass, maintains image clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
Aluminum filter ring is both lightweight and durable.

    Tiffen 52812 reviews

    52mm 812 Warming Filter is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent way to get rid of blue shadows I initially started using this filter to correct the excessive blue rendition of Fuji FP-100C when shot in shadow with my Polaroid pack film cameras. I loved the improved tonal rendition that I bought this 52mm filter for my Nikon SLR lenses. It gives the same great improvement in rendition in images shot in the shade, especially with a film such as Provia 100F, which tends towards bluish. There is a multicoated version and this uncoated version of the 52mm 812 filter. So far, this uncoated version is just fine, as most of my use of it is in shade or dappled sunlight. However, if you want to make sure that filter reflections are not an issue, then go for the multicoated version.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The industry standard for warming and flattering skin tones. When you switch lenses under pressure, you don't want to waste time trying to also switch the filters from the old lens to the new one. This is even more important if you drop the filter, smudge the filter, sneeze on the filter, etc, etc. You can save a lot of grief by investing in enough of the Tiffen 812 filters to avoid this possible mini-disaster. I bought a couple of these filters when I was choosing the lenses I would use for a wedding shoot. It was wise to choose the industry standard in a warming filter. The Tiffen 812 is amazing in flattering flesh tones.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tiffen #812 Warming Filter Perfect filter to use for bringing out the warmth of skin tone, especially with portrait or any model work. I use this with my Nikon digital SLR. I especially like using lenses 100mm to 300mm for close up portraits from 5 to 10 feet distance shooting around ISO 100 to 360 to achieve a softer look and warm complexion. Inexpensive investment for great portrait results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable service I tried to my filters from a shop and had to go back to the Internet to buy them. It is the easier than chasing all around the city only to find they have to order it off the net at an exorbitant price. And you have to go back to collect it. I was very pleased with the price it was well packaged and straight to my door. No problems! Thank you
