Novoflex LEM/LER Overview

The Novoflex Lens Mount Adapter allows a Leica R type lens to be mounted onto a Leica M type camera.

Although the lens will fit physically, automatic diaphragm (AE metering) or any other functions are not retained using this adapter. In this case you will have to meter in "stop-down mode", since the lens does not have the ability to have its aperture controlled by the camera body.

The current version of this adapter comes with a special 6-bit marking on the camera side to bring up the Leica R-lenses menu in your Leica M 240 digital camera.

I ordered one of these adapters for Leica R lenses to M mount cameras, and it did not match the picture, because it did not have the 6 bit code that tells a Leica M typ 240 or later digital M camera that a Leica R lens is attached. B&H sent and RMA for exchange for another , and I asked them to make sure the replacement had the 6 bit code. It came yesterday, but also lacked the 6 bit code. So I will return for a refund. It looks well made, but I think these were either old stock or Novoflex stopped coding them.

This Novaflex R to M lens adapter is an excellent product. It is of high quality. It performs its design function perfectly. The coding on the rear flange of the adapter activates the appropriate lens menu on my Leica M Type 240. This adapter greatly expands the flexibility of the Leica M 240 by allowing the use of R lenses.

Is there any functional difference between this and the leica r to m adapter?

The Leica version has a non-rotating, detachable stem mount that can be used to attach to a tripod or monopod. That is it is optimized only for the horizontal picture orientation. The Novoflex adapter does not have this, so it only adapts the R lens to an M mount camera body for handheld use (except for long lenses with their own tripod mount).

Does Novoflex offer a tripod lens support for this adapter? Is there something similar to the Novoflex ASTAT-NEX for this adapter?

Tripod collars are lens model specific so your best to check to see if your R lenses have one available. Unfortunately, Novoflex only produces ASTAT lens collars for the NEX and Micro 4/3 adapters. The only option we have is the Manfrotto 293 Telephoto Lens Support. The length of the bracket is adjustable to take different length lenses.http://bhpho.to/KwdXlA
