Kaiser 204067 reviews

Stainless Steel Print Tongs (Set of Two is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from No good for college darkrooms These are probably awesome for a priveate darkroom where you have full control of everything that happens, but they're terrible for school darkrooms. This is because:- The tips come off super easily and disappear (being tiny and clear). I tried using various adhesives to hold them on, but no luck.- As someone else said, the springs are not stainless, and they rust and break. This is a problem for tongs that are going to be sitting in or near liquid for 8+ hours a day 6 days a week.I had expected them to be better than the bamboo tongs that constantly fall apart, but we've switched back to bamboo for now. The Kaiser stainless tongs lasted about two weeks without any issues. The tips lasted about half a semester, and the springs lasted a little over a semester. For tongs that cost $/pair, I'd expect something that can last more than a few months.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from BEWARE- NOT STAINLESS!! They work well, and are wonderful, except for the fact that the springs RUST and do not maintain their strength or tension in holding prints- they weaken considerably over time. Yes, they are wonderful at first....but the truth is they RUST and break down!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Flimsy, cheap and break easily. I purchased four of these to outfit my first darkroom. I was on a budget, but thought the wooden ones on here looked cheap. Turns out, these are cheap too. Of the four tongs, one broke on it's second use, at approximately print #20. The metal constituting one side of the hinge broke off, throwing the spring across the darkroom and separating the two main pieces, which fell into the tray alongside the print. The hinge isn't repairable so that set is now trash. One of the rubbery protective caps also tore the first time I took it off for cleaning. Purchasing these was a poor decision.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tongs!!! I'm new to developing my own prints, and I've got to tell you these tongs are worth every penny. Before I got these my prints had all kinds of tong marks on the edges, sometimes more, sometimes less. With these tongs, my prints are extremely easy to grab. Once I have a print it is easy to hold over developer tray to let drain. I have never dropped a print back in the tray w/these tongs, and my prints now come out free of tong marks. I love these print tongs. I just wish that I had bought these the first time around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much better then bamboo tongs! After three years of using old bamboo tongs with rubber tips that eventually came off, I recently purchased a set of these Kaiser print tongs. I've just used them for a session in the darkroom and they're a revelation! Soft high-grade plastic (PTFE?) tips that grip the paper firmly but gently, angled to make it easy to grip the paper while holding the tongs over the side of a tray. A lip that prevents them from falling into the tray. Spring loaded action (press to open, release to close under spring pressure) that holds the paper just right. No more dropping paper when transferring from one tray to another because I'm not holding the tongs shut hard enough. Stainless steel so you can wash them clean at the end of the day. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone who is fed up with bamboo tongs!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I bought 4 - I'll probably never need another tong.... These are the best tongs ever --- beats any bamboo or plastic tong out there...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great, last long I run a high school darkroom. These tongs last so much longer than any plastic or bamboo... BUT the rubber feet pull off so easily. when they get lost down the drain the raw edge of the metal scratches your prints terribly. Still, for their sturdiness and rust resistance, I give them four stars

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hard to get tongs these days Better than bamboo and plastic. Nice short tongs with good spring mechanism. My only gripe is that the plastic tips (which are nice and soft) simply push on. Which means they also fall off when giving them a vigorous rinse at the end of the day. No big deal though.
