I bought this thinking it would help me out while I was opening film cans in the dark. But this tool was unable to open any of the film cans I had. I went in with 6 rolls of film and left the room with 6 unopened film rolls. I ended up grabbing bottle opener bc this product didn't work. The bottle opener however was highly recommended and a fraction of the price. I followed the directions (which were not abundant) that came with the opener thinking I had some how done something wrong but it was not strong enough to pop the film roll open.

I developed film for the first time ever last week. I had tried opening film canisters previously with a bottle opener without much success, so I bought this since I reasoned that the actual tool for the job had to be better. It worked quite well, and I am pleased. I look forward to using it for a long time to come.

Film manufacturer film cassettes are not meant to be reused. This device is more for people who open a lot of cassettes a day or people in a hurry. For re-use of film cassettes, use these.
