Heliopan UV Filter Overview

The Heliopan 77mm UV Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others. The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

The front and rear surfaces of the filter both feature a single anti-reflection coating. Each coating helps to increase light transmission by reducing reflections, scattered light, and ghosting. Additionally, they offer protection to the filter substrate while helping to keep the glass clean for longer than uncoated glass.

This Heliopan filter is constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. It features a brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

Feels sturdy but causes a lot of reflections

Upon unboxing and holding the filter, I noticed that the reflections from it were not colored and very strong. Upon testing it on my lenses (50mm f/1.2, 105mm f/1.4, 24-70mm f/2.8), Ive noticed that it causes a strong reflection of light source in the frame.

Great for old Elmar screw mount lenses

I use these for old Leica screwmount Elmar lenses. Better than the old push type since the do not cover the aperture. Also great glass.

This filter has been especially designed for imaging with digital sensors. I like the quality of German products and this filter is no exception. Its multi coating eliminate nearly all reflections.

I needed a filter for my new Leica Summaron 28mm f5.6 lens. Found the correct size to fit it and the Heliopan, with Schott glass, is perhaps the best made filter in the world. I only bought the single coated one, as the new lens comes with new Leica coatings on it.

the Heliopan filters are the only ones still made in Bayonet-1 for Rolleiflex cameras... so it's this or nothing, and I like the lens protection of a filter!

To UV or not UV

I have read reviews that say it's counterproductive to put cheap glass on an expensive lens. I have always gone the other way, kept a UV filter on the lens at all times, and get the results I'm working for when I do everything right. Would the pictures be better without the filter? Or better in certain situations at the margins... You could spend your entire life testing that. My solution is to pay up for a good quality filter and then focus on taking pictures.

Highest standards of fabrication and materials (both glass and brass plus matte-black finish). Take a deep breath and shell out the extra. You'll be glad you did.

Does this work identically to a traditional ...

Does this work identically to a traditional Rollei Bay IV/4 filter on Rolleiflex Wide cameras? The old Rollei filters were sized so that you could use a Bay IV filter and a Bay IV lens hood simultaneously, without stacking. The lens hood would fit around the exterior of the filter. Thanks!

The Wide Rolleiflex 4/55 - Model K7W uses a Bay 4 filter.If that is the camera you have, yes that is the correct filter.

The two Heliopan filters are the same. The 706001 is the 60mm version and the 706201 is the 62mm version.The filter you are referring to, http://bhpho.to/1owREJu is a B+W filter. 010 is the models that have multi-coatings.

No, the series 6 filter will not fit. The Leica 35mm f/1.4 Summilux the old model came in a few different versions depending the year.Version 1960-1966 used 41mm size filters.1967-1995 did not have any threads and to use filters you needed the 12 504 hood. The hood worked with series VII size filters.

Can you pair this filter with a Heliopan 24 mm medium yellow filter in my Rollei 35T for black and white film ?

I purchased the 27mm UV filter for the Voigtlander 50mm Heliar that has a 27mm filter thread. I do not think you could mount a 24mm yellow filter on. That said, the UV filter does have the front threading to allow me to mount the screw-in hood that comes with my lens. Hope this helps.
