Celestron 93722 Overview

The Celestron Sky Map provides a fun way to read the night sky, and is an ideal teaching guide.  Just as you wouldn't set off upon a road trip without a road map, you needn't try navigating the night sky without a map either.  Even if you're experienced around major constellations, these maps help locate all kinds of fascinating objects.

The front cover has a specially designed luminous planisphere that rotates to simulate the seasonal progression of celestial objects through the sky.  When the planisphere is pre-exposed to light, star positions glow brightly against a dark background-mimicking actual constellations.  More than a thousand stars and deep-sky objects are listed and charted.  The illustrated reference section provides basic information and the visual characteristics of various types of stars, nebulae and galaxies.

To use, hold the map above your head with the arrow facing celestial north.  Turn the dial to the present date and time, and the map shows you exactly what is above you.  Turn the dial as the hour changes to keep up with the orbiting sky show.
Please note - these maps are for use in the northern hemisphere only.

I have the Celestron Sky Map - Planisphere but I haven't used it yet. But I looked at it and looks very easy to use I like this item because it's book plus it's a Planisphere.and it's easy to read. I will use it with my Celestron LED Flashligt and I also will use it with my two Celestron Telescopes the Celestron First Scope and my Celestron Travel Scope. I like the Celestron Sky Maps - Planisphere because it's a fun and unique way to lean about Stars, Constellations, Planets and Nonstellar Objects. And it's a Great tool for learning and doing Astronomy.

This is a great guide for beginning stargazing to orient yourself. The glow in the dark front page is nice, but only the stars illuminate, not their names.

I've been doing astronomy programs for the public since 1981. After a couple of years I realized this was the only book I needed. The current edition has planet locations for ten years. It list by constellations Messier Objects, for the naked eye and binoculars. The maps are super easy to use and also contain some NGC objects. It also contains designations for clock and computer drives. I've worn 10 of these out in 38 years of observing

This book is an excellent source for identifying the stars and constellations. I've found it to be ever so helpful in learning what it is I'm looking. There is great detail on the seasonal charts but I found the rotating star finder to be best. Very exciting to get to know what is out there.
