Sachtler Hot-Pod 10 Reviews
Unique unto itself
This tripod, a longtime fav of news shooters, is a workhorse and has the ability, via its pneumatic center column, to get above the competition. With legs and center column fully extended, the camera can be positioned at roughly 8' high. This is not without a tradeoff. The manner in which the leg extensions release is tricky at first and something I always found to be a pain. The entire rig is not particularly heavy, but also not anywhere close to lightweight. Probably around the same weight as a Video 18 with 2 stage legs. Well-made. I've seen them thrown around yet last for decades. Really great at its specialty, but it is a specialty tripod. If you are not doing news / sports news / pressers where you often need to shoot over other cameras who got the better positions before you could, probably not for you.
