Hoya A-52CUS-GB overview

  • 1Description

The Hoya 52mm Multicoated Close-up Lens Set is a set of three close-up lenses for use in achieving macro-like results with almost any camera lens you pair them with. Close-up lenses are magnifiers that optically decrease the focal length of a camera lens it is placed on. This effect lessens the minimum focus distance between your camera lens and an object. Magnification can then be obtained while photographing an object by moving the front of the camera lens close to it.

The magnifying power of each close-up lens is indicated by its diopter strength. A close-up lens with a higher diopter number provides more relative magnification and can be combined with other close-up lenses to increase or fine-tune its effect. These lenses are multicoated to help reduce flare and improve light transmission.

Close-up lenses decrease the minimum focus distance of almost any camera lens, providing macro-like results.
+1, +2, and +4 strengths allow you to vary and modify your desired close-up effect.
Dual threading permits you to combine the close-up lenses together or pair them with filters.

    Hoya A-52CUS-GB reviews

52mm Multicoated Close-up Lens Set is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from great kit! exactly what i was hoping for I use these for macro photography of flowers and insects. Im on a tight budget because I am only a student so high quality new lenses are out of the question. I ordered these thinking they would be a good in between until I save enough for a dedicated macro lens. But when I tried these on the two lenses I have. My kit lens and a 55-200mm zoom lens I was astounded by the quality. The DOF is reduced. But the quality for the price is uncomparable. I would highly reccomend this kit to anyone who's on a budget and is looking for a macro lens.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Inexpensive macros This is the way to get some macros without spending a lot of money. I only do macros occasionally so didn't want to spend a fortune on a macro lens. I purchased the close up kit along with a Nikon 50mm f1.8 and have had very good results so far. My only complaint is the case that came with the filters. The filter in the pouch near the closing flap has a tendency to fall out if you are not careful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from High quality as expected from Hoya I've been testing these filters with a Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 Macro lens and a focusing rail, clear optics have given me very good results. The DOF is pretty shallow with these filters, so I'd recommend focusing rail and focus stacking technique to get decent DOF.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Macros without a Specialty Lens Great little pieces of glass that give your existing equipment extra adaptability. I love using these for small product photography and macros of flowers. Not easily interchanged, so these are best used when you have a plan in mind for them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As Advertised I'm not a pro photographer, but I love that I can get macro shots at a great price with these. Yes, they do cause aberrations but I find their performance to meet or exceed my expectations. I have a lot of fun with these.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing cheep alternative to a Macro len I recently bought these lenses to test on my Canon 7D with a 50 mm 1,8 lens. the filters works amazingly on the lens and I can now make some great macro shots with nice auto focus ability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as expected Headline tells everything. It is not a replacement for a real macro-lens (due to embedded magnification) but if you are willing to take occasionally few close-ups - this is what you need.
