SFG-2 Tracking Force Gauge is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best values there is I purchased a Pro-Ject turntable for my system, and my A/T AT440MLa is, apparently, much heavier than the the Ortofon that came premounted. The tonearm weight had to move too far back to balance. I had the choice to get the larger weight, but that adds mass to the whole system and I've got another table to fit the Ortofon to (and sell), so I purchased this unit. All in all, I'm very happy. What's better and easier than a properly calculated lever to show pressure at the point of contact? ... I'm been happily listening to my vinyl collection once more. And the thing is less than $20!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really handy tool to have around. I bought this to determine how accurate the scale is on my counterweight. I followed the instructions (very simple) provided and I was very impressed with how simple yet accurate it was. My counterweight was proven to be accurate and I even decided to use it on some other turntables and discovered that they were actually wrong. If the turntable has a spindle and a counterweight, this will work. It's affordable and easy to use, especially for a DJ who's trying to troubleshoot sound quality and skipping problems. It also comes in handy when you're trying to extract every detail of sound from a good stylus/vinyl. Setting the proper weight is the best way to preserve your stylus and your precious vinyl collection. I highly recommend this handy little tool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good design that will stay accurate This is the first device I have had that measures stylus pressure accurately. Being a beam balance device, it measures mass rather than weight, does not depend on springs, and will stay accurate. The slider and indicator are small, and require care and nimble fingers to use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works like a charm... I own 2 turntables and I use vinyl records frequently. Being a senior citizen on a fixed income makes it imperative that I try and maintain the styli on my phono-cartridges. The SFG-2 Tracking Force Gauge by Shure is an easy answer for that conundrum. The SFG-2 Tracking Force Gauge does well at setting the weight for the stylus. I'm not sure how precise this little balance actually is but I find I can set my stylus force gauge ring on the counterweights to a lighter setting by using the SFG-2. That alone was worth the price of this little tool for me because by using it I'm able to lessen the wear on the styli. The only problem I have with using the SFG-2 Tracking Force Gauge is that I'm a bit older and my hands are not as steady as they were a few years back. That's my problem and it has nothing to do with the SFG-2. So if you're a little shaky use extreme care when setting your tracking force with this gauge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from inexpensive, accurate and easy to use. One can spend a great deal of money on digital stylus pressure gauge and get a very accurate reading, but for those of us who do not need 2 or 3 significant digits of accuracy beyond the decimal, this gauge is just fine. It balances on the platter for a static measure of the playing weight of the stylus. Easy to use, and easy to read this is simply a good gauge for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet This gauge is exactly as described. It's easy to use, and apparently very accurate--it shows the same result that my friend's electronic scale shows. It's also made out of durable materials. Good product, fast shipping, no complaints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The classic tracking force gauge It's been the standard for decades. It's easy to use, and it works. What more can you ask for. It's not digital, it doesn't need batteries, it just does the job. Set it and adjust the counterweight and there you go.
